I remember watching in Ireland. Summer 95 was absolutley scorching and I sat in and watched this match. I think the world knew we were witnessing something special not only on the field but also in South Africa. Who will ever forget the iconic image of Nelson presenting the trophy to Francois. An image that will live forever. Nelson, you have nothing to prove.Rest in peace
One of the most Iconic moments in the history of sport (and I am an All Black Fan BTW). Hard fought rugby, and one of those rare moments when sport takes a back seat to something greater. A must watch and appreciate for any contemporary rugby player like myself. We know not what we play for.....
I am not Suth African, I am Venezuelan but I cry with excitement every time I see this story of tolerance and humanity. Nelson Mandela live forever in our hearts
The moment he gives the cup and raises his arms in triumph with Francois Pienaar is a moment I'll never forget. That day he wasn't the leader of a country, he was a rugby fan. R.I.P. Nelson
"When Mr Mandela handed me the trophy, he thanked me for what we had done for South Africa. I thanked him for what he had done for the nation. And at the end of the match, we all said a prayer. We are believers." Francois Pienaar
whenever i want to remember what we can achieve i watch this - still brings shivers to my spine!!! the nations spirit was whole even if for a day, id tell my children about this day a thousand times over. Mandela - Africa has never had a better father!!
THE POWER OF HAPPINESS - Mandela made excellent use of it! Smiles, laughter, and happiness allows people to lower their guard and be more open to others.
saw this except through the movie Invictus, and now I can see the real version. Very touching. Madiba will never be forgotten by any global citizen, and kudos to that fantastic rugby team who truly did its part in uniting a nation!
Thank you very much for sharing - this is not just history, this is a reminder of the great values that we must protect if we want to continue to strive for, and achieve, our common goals as one species - one human kind. Best wishes for the New Year.
If only all leaders all over the world have the vision he have for his country we will leave peacefully on this world. We are only here temporarily as it is not ours. What ever faith religion we have peace in world. If ONE MAN can do it for SOUTH AFRICA. just imagine just imagine the millions of man around the world can make a change for our children to llive happily around each other. RIP Sir Mandela. God bless us all.
Thank you Mr Mandela you made us all proud, What a great President. 95 World Cup a day to remember. Thank you to the Bokke what a great team. Still watching it all the time. Thank you
I remember watching this match at the age of 17 and to me even today it made our history in South Africa.....breaks my heart in my 40'2 now to see what has become of our beloved rainbow nation...we live in fear of the unkown....what went wrong God hear our prayers and restore all in our country.
when i did watch the game live in tv in my loved Honduras i never wonder all the amazing thinks was happening besides this simple game , now i knew it God bless madiba and South Africans
This is so awesome. Not because of the political history but any other head of state would be there in smart dress but Mandela's wearing a rugby shirt and baseball cap. Much respect
It's a shame the food poisoning didn't get mentioned the all blacks done their best that restaurant that food poisoned the all blacks made history and this world cup win was the most cheated and match fixing game I honestly hope we do not have any world cup games in South Africa so other countries don't get food poisen but heaps of respect to joost the best number 9 South Africa will never replace
