The Impala SS was not a luxury vehicle, it was meant to emulate the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's in a more modern/practical way without sacrificing any of the brute muscle car performance.
Great video... I was 16 in 1996 and I remember back then It was sometime in the fall of 1996 octoberish in Massachusetts on Cape Cod. It was about night-time and a close friend had called me up and pulled up in one of these things.SO...he opened the back trunk and saw two moderately sized Nitrous Oxide tanks. We hit the highway down route 6 and literally blew threw 2nd-3rd and 4rth gear in a few seconds.(Stock- Not a muscle car feel ),BUT With a 5Speed & Nitrous A ROCKETSHIP!
I never was too much of a fan of the Grey Green Metallic in the past, but I have to say, it does have a ghostly vibe about it. And it's a pretty unique shade compared to what comes from the factory today. I'd be happy with it.
I know im asking randomly but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly forgot my account password. I love any tricks you can offer me
@Alexander Kairo thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Damn! It's everything I wanted for MY dream Impala SS. As a once proud owner of a 1994 Caprice LT1 and member of "The Herd" Impala SS club, I would easily take this off your lot had I known about it.
What a car. Hey Chris, I'm in Chicago too and I have 95 SS with only 10,000 miles. Completely mint. I love that car. Love at first sight. You should buy it. You won't regret it.
My friend has one thats really nice. We hook our cars up good in Detroit. This has always been my dream car, I'll end up buying one some day. I plan on building a 70 Chevelle SS too.
1994 Impala ss a true American Classic you can enjoy and not lose money felling you get behind the wheel is like a drug and very addicting beware once you drive one your hooked for life and there is no rehab for car addiction
I turned 16 in 1995 too lol. That's when I got my permit & then my Jr license about a month later. I already had my first car before I got my permit, so as soon as I got my Jr license I was driving on my own. I was one of the oldest in my class too, so I was the only Sophomore who had a license & was driving his own car to school lol. Good memories. Anyway, nice SS!! I always liked these cars.
even though i don't like this car, i share passion for cars and dreams, it was really evident how you love it, so i wish you get your dream of owning one come true someday.
Your wife wouldn't "let" you buy your dream car? Unless its her money, I don't see where you need her permission to begin with. The 96 Impala SS is one of my big wants as well, shame that you missed out on this one.
That is a very powerful car!!! Crown Vic police squat cars will not catch this one during a chase. I'm not a big fan of Chevy or GM cars, but I have no choice but to give this particular car props. It's beautiful and sleek!!! It's just too bad Impalas aren't made like this anymore!!!!
green is not my.... but the car is amazing. i know this video is old, but it speaks true to my caprice station with the lt1. Love it! Greetings from germany!
The only three cars my dad he would ever get in his life that he actually likes is a 1996 Impala SS, 1995 Volkswagen Golf, and 2004 Audi 4 door sedan.... but shit no wonder he would want this car its everything you can possily want comfort attached with a 260 HP V8...its everything in one car
My 94 9C1 keeps up with a 08 Civic Si in the twisties, it's just a bit hard to manage with all that weight and torque. Is it a M3? No. Can it corner? Yes. Everyone that says it can't is making a broad stereotype of murca and/or has never driven one. Yeah, it's a little low on power. A $50 mail order tune can have it sitting with the Camaro/Corvette power levels, and besides that, the LT1 engine has the ability to make 350+ in stock configuration, with levels of 450+ achievable. Any real car guy would realize this drivetrain/suspension package has the aftermarket support comparable to the Mustang and the M3. I don't really care if you hate it, but at least drive it before you call it a pile of horse shit.
Agree. I have owned two E36 BMW M3s and I do own a heavily performance modded 06 Mustang GT. All great cars. I own a 96 Impala SS DCM as my daily driver and somehow I enjoy driving it more than the others. It brakes far better than my Mustang and nearly as well as an E36 M3 and that is saying something for a car as big as the Impala. Acceleration and reliability are great. It handles much better than you would think but John Moss upgraded the springs, sway bars, suspension and wheels and he nailed it. I swapped out the 3.08 gears for 3.73s , added a custom exhaust and a race tune for my PCM. Love the looks, ride, performance and reliability of my 96 SS and will drive it until the wheels fall off!
@RoundenBrown the third brake light only comes on when you press the brake, the car was of course in park when he started it so therefore he was not pressing on the brake and that's why you did not see it come on.
I am original owner of a 1996 Impa ss. I am female, grew up with 60’s muscle cars, I saw this car and immediately bought it when console shifter was added. I am now age 72, still hot-Rodding , a little. I do not want to hurt my baby.. I did replace the driver side door mirror, since I broke mine. I got a new after market one and of course the original black shade, #5585, matched perfectly, as the car is a garage dweller. She has 27, 700 miles on her now. I drive her around residential areas, and a bit on the faster speed parkway near me, juts to keep things in working order. My husband bought it,but he is banned from it as a driver-too rough on it. I would not say that this car was a gift of love, but a mistaken statement was the real reason. My husband said he would buy one if they made it with a console shifter, so in 1996 the shifter was added, so he had to buy it!!!! I am still in love with mine, everyone wants to buy it, sorry, no sale!!
Quit being a snob; yes the E39 M5 is a great performance sedan (used to drive a E46 M3, LOVED it.) But with anything, its different strokes for different folks. If you're a TRUE car enthusiast, you wouldn't be knocking the Impala SS unless you've got some self-esteem issues lmao. Both are great cars; I'd consider myself a BMW enthusiast (family owns 4 at the moment, but went through at least 10 in the last 10 years), and we're really looking into buying the 96 Impala. Classic and elegant.
Agree. Have owned two E36 Ms which I loved and were my dailys. Race cars from the factory. But the Impala SS is a perfomance sedan of the American muscle variety and as a daily it actually makes me smile more than the M3. Install 3.73s, a custom exhaust, performance tune, cold air intake and brake proportioning valve and you have a hell of a 4300 pound performance sedan that is an amazing highway cruiser. Mine has been to Canada twice, upstate New York and on other long trips and it's a joy to drive around town and long distances.
yea i understand your logic, i broke the front underbody protection on my 530i and BMW quoted me $400 :/ a bit steep for a piece of plastic. but everyone i know with a chevy or ford has no complaints and love their reliability. crown vic's are supremely comfortable from my experiences as well
I am restoring a '96 LS same green/gray - btw - the cloth interior is much more comfortable than your vinyl seats ... and mine gets 26 mpg with the 4.3L L99 motor ... 610 miles on a tank ... the Trunk is 20.4 cu ft.
With Chicago weather, it's going to happen, plus snow. That car was meant to be driven anyway. I'm surprise the other 2 owners didn't drive it as much. But hey, it was cleaned up afterwards.
Chris, this is the latest chapter of our long running debate between American and European cars.....so far the Europeans are winning and the Impala is the last car I thought you would pull out. Im hoping you would take stock of another Lotus Exige S and do a test drive
@blackberryboldjeff donks are the 70's models caprice and impalas. you referring to the bubble chevy b/c of the b-body platform. i dont mean to offend and i also agree. stock is beautiful
@demoskunk These cars are actually very fast even by todays standards considering its size. They didn't have any kind of speed governor so they could easily hit 140+
@Kibblesforme123 Don't underestimate the power of that car my friend. I saw a video of police in Ford Crown Vic squat cars chasing a similar Impala SS. The police, nor the helicopter were able to catch up to the Impala, putting the police force and Ford in utter shame. You might just have a different opinion once you see that police chase. Look up "Impala SS police chase" on RU-vid. That car is a Beast.
