How take apart and repair the digital dash on a 1996 Chevrolet Caprice.

You guys are amazing at your work with GM cars. Definitely will be sending folks your way to work on their cars. Especially DTS suspension and head gasket replacements.

Hey I’m trying to put back my cluster but the cable that connects to the gear pointer isn’t connecting / shifting properly. How does it go back on

Did your repair work fix the problem? I have the same issue on my 1994 9C1 Caprice.

A little late to the party but you do not want to touch any electrical connection with your finger because of natural skin oil. You also want to clean the fingers in the plugs. You should always clean the file spotlessly or use a new fine fingernail file board. Creating more pressure by raising the solder is a bad diagnosis and a poor fix. The solder did not evaporate over the years. The contact points simple oxidized. SprayClean and Q-Tips first, then fine polish and solder LAST.

Does anyone know how to change the odometer on the cluster back to regular ??? I changed some bulbs and it’s showing me kms now instead of miles

you should have a button for it just under the vent to the right of the steering wheel, a mph/kph button as well as a trip button
