this is still my favorite version of the song, despite longer concert versions

I think mainstream media forgot what their "mission" was. Thank you John Williams for the immortal piece.

NBC News made David Brinkley a legend. Wayyy back in the day was the Huntley-Brinkley Report. I remember "Good night, Chet. Good night, David." at the end of each program.

This version is so much better than the updated version that is played on Brian Williams' broadcasts.

This version of "The Mission" is from 1985 until 2004, when Tom Brokaw was an anchor at NBC Nightly News.

This theme is still being used in the uk on bbc radio 2 during the Sara cox hometime show so it still lives lol

Considering us baby boomers are the ones who put the Today Show on the map to begin with, it would be great for them to keep a few of the traditional elements of the Today Show intact. The cold look of the studio and the lousy house party music is getting old FAST. They need to warm things up and return to the look and feel of the Bryant/Katie, and Katie/Matt years.

NBC should go back to using this with long openings and older voices.....STOP using celebrites... Older voices are more credible... New and Shiny isnt always nice...
