I listen the the album this was on thousands of times as a child. I knew it was good, but it's only now as an adult and musician that I begin to comprehend how utterly authoritative this rendition by bthe Boston Pops is. I haven't found a version that compares.
I'll never forget coming down into Los Angeles from the San Gabriel Mountains. 1972 didn't do enough in 1 day. If I had known more about the Coliseum and Rose Bowl. I would have had my Mom and Dad spend a couple of days to see these in person. Los Angeles you are blessed. One beautiful City.
The 1984 Olympics were the best. Thank you Soviet Union for boycotting, thank you Eastern Block for boycotting, thank you McDonald's for your game pieces and thank you franchise owners for giving out more game pieces when customers redeemed their winning game piece.
Thank you for sharing this video, I can not counting how many times watched it on my VHS videotape which I recorded from TV that was a world concert tour in the 1980s’ in Japan when I was a kid. I remember that even small details in their sound.
OMG I thought I was the only one who did this! I remember recording the 1996 Olympics on VHS and playing the NBC opening and closing segments over and over to catch this theme song.
Thank You for posting this masterpiece of Music! This Olympic Theme is an American Treasure, and right from the brilliant mind of John Williams! John Williams is an Absolute Genius! He is Extraordinary! An American Treasure!
I think you'll learn to love the Winter and Summer Olympics with NBC's Continuous Live Coverage starting Wednesday. Yes Wednesday starts the Olympic Television Fest for the ages. It may even bring the Rose Parade and Macy's Parades to Commercial Free in the next year.
Yo tengo el recuerdo de ver al maestro Williams, una vez terminado el himno, de sentarse y sacar de su chaqueta un pañuelo para secarse el sudor de su frente.
