After looking back and watching Dina's routine, I can say that it was pretty ahead of its time. From the tkatchev straight to pak, to the shaposhnikova to clear hip and then back down, there were so many skills linked together. It was sort of like an older version of today's routines.
Are you kidding me? Nadia, Eberle, Szabo, Silivas, Bontas, Gogean, Amânar... Milo won Olympic Bronze.., twice, Amânar silver (technically gold but they robbed Răducan), Raducan - both 2000, Porgras-2009-2011top 5 Haidu 2009-3011 top 10 finish Iordache 4th-2013,silver -2014, bronze-2015,, Nistor 5th at Beijing, Isbaza - 5th in London Crisan-2017 Golgotă- 2018 They’re still in finals and up til the huge coaching and organizational shuffle around 2016 they were MEDALING in all around
@@GymnasticsSavesLives She was world champion on beam and 5th AA in 2010 and won bronze on bars in 2009. Top 10 would be more correct for 09-11 but my point still stands as she was medaling on individual apparatuses.
The comment about Amanar's low to high transition, but no mention of it at all when Amy did the same thing or when Lilia literally just stood on the low bar to grab the high bar without even the toe-on, lol... Watching this again many years later, I think Dawes should have been on the podium. I'm not saying any of the top 3 didn't deserve their medals, but Dawes did her best routine of the games and somehow scored lower than in the other rounds while Khorkina (hit the low bar), Bi (over-arch handstand) and Amy (step on dismount) all had errors too.
@@otherworld11 yep. She is vile and I'm so glad Carly beat her. Even Carly herself says Khorkina is a bad sport and it's not like Carly to diss anyone. After the team final there's a clip of Khorkina saying something in Carly's ear when they are supposed to be congratulating each other. It's obvious by Carly's face that Khorkina said something nasty. I bet it was something about how she was going to beat her in the all around final. Evil person. Her beam in the AA final was pathetic- I always watch it when I want a laugh to cheer myself up lol. And I'm No America fan, it annoys me that USA wins all the time. I prefer the Russian style in the main, but I can't stand Khorkina
@@otherworld11 I totally agree. It was all because Carly was better. What I mean is that usually I'd be cheering on Russia over the US (I'm British) so I have no American bias when saying this about Khorkina. Carly was simply better and Khorkina was terrible. The fact Khorkina is a terrible, victim blaming person makes Carly's win all that bit sweeter.
If you care about handstands you have to give it to Bi Wenjing. With the exception of the arched back before the dismount, she hits every handstand with full extension. It's beautiful. Her routine here is the only one that wouldn't be hammered by modern judging.
Im with thejen5454 she shouldve atleast medalled.there are visble errors, khorkina foot hitting the bar,the back bend on the chinese and none of chows stalders were straight lol but still all including dawes was good.
I thought that skill Sevetlana Khorkina did was a delchev? The commentator said it was named after her (Khorkina) but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Elena Shushunova do it.
