I can't tell you how many times I've watched this. When this first aired at the Olympics you would have thought i was Shannon's Mom. I wanted her to win that gold medal on beam so bad, when she did i cried i was so happy for her !! And when i watch now i still feel joy for her !! The most hard-working gymnast ever !! She deserved every bit of success she got !!!! Im not one to idolize people, but i do Shannon !!! What a class act its June , 2024 and i never get tired of watching her !!!! What a legend ❤🎉❤🎉🥰☝️🤩
Tom Gallowitz I really wish Dawes would have been in the beam final herself. If she would have hit like she did in the AA she’d have had the silver medal.
@@raulvega4016Gutsu deserved NOTHING of the kind, didn’t belong in that competition at all. Rosa was the one deserving of that honor and was robbed by ugly, biased coaches. Then for Tatiana to later try and say she “understood how Rosa felt?” Selfish, childish and disrespectful behavior to think such rubbish. Shannon Miller was absolutely robbed by biased judges.
8.39 When Steve Nuno hugs Shannon ❤ You can feel how genuinely happy he is for her and she just melts into his arms, such a great coach/athlete relationship. Then he tells her "Good things happen to good people." ❤ ✨️
I loved Gina when I first saw her back in 1989. She was like 12 or 13, so cute and tiny... she did have a beautiful lines and difficult skills back then... After 1992 or so, her gymnastics got less interesting.....
Love how classy Miller was when Galieva fell. If that was a North Korean, they would have celebrated already when their competitors fell and they are assured of a medal LOL
poor Roza just really hasn't had a great experience at the Olympics - being pulled out of the AA in 1992 and then in 96 not being able to hear her floor music due to the crowd (twice), stepping off the beam, and then having the crowd cheer wildly after her bad routine even before her score was up. I feel sorry for her :( then again, Shannon deserved to win.
That and I think being treated like machines by coaches doesn't help either and by being told that the only good Olympic experience is if you win. Also feel bad for girls but feel its karma for both the Romanian and Russian coaches who act entitled, think the gold should just be handed to them, and complain everytime things don't go their way.
Oh my god, when Galieva stepped off that beam, I literally screamed for joy!!! Shannon Miller had won!!! It was actually kind of funny, because I am Canadian.
Tesh kept saying that Galieva was on floor during the TF as Kerri was leaving on a stretcher, but he's wrong. If you watch the BBC coverage you clearly see that Kerri was long out of the arena by the time Roza competed FX as the vault rotation finished a lot quicker than FX. It was actually fairly quiet by the time Roza competed FX but the Russians already knew the gold was lost, and she was crying as she had a weak performance.
Tesh was the quintessential himbo of this sport, manufacturing drama where there wasn’t any. Thank goodness they ditched him in favour of Al Traurig. An embarrassment to women’s gymnastics.
@lanpingpug I really liked Alina Kozich in the 2004 Olympics. She won Europeans going into the Olympics, but she was terribly inconsistent there. Too bad, because her routines were gorgeous.
Dina was robbed...she had a tough and different routine from anyone else...Gina didn't impress on the excitement level..I agree with Elfi. After seeing this Gina was clean and it was nice but just not something that was metal worthy.
That’s the whole point though- she was CLEAN. Dina had a couple of noticeable little checks that made the difference. I thought her routine was more exciting too, but exciting didn’t matter- EXECUTION did.
@tmwalkerm well miller had an injury and it was really hard to her for get to get a good push from her backhandspring because of her severe tendenitis. But dawes just could never preform well for herself, for her team deffiantley, for herself never. It's annoying but we can't change anything
Dina Kotchetkova was on FX when Kerri vaulted, not Roza, Tim. She cried after her routine because she knew the gold was lost and her FX wasn’t very strong.
@@raulvega4016that audience had EVERY RIGHT to cheer as much as they wanted. Every elite athlete trains to block out distractions, to focus inward on what they are doing. If those athletes didn’t it’s their coaches faults, not the crowd!
It's a pity that the Ukrainians don't win more these days. After Karpenko, there doesn't seem to have been a Ukrainian who could challenge for the Olympic all-around.
People commenting saying Dina Kotchekova should have medaled over Gogean is ridiculous. During this quadrenium having both routines out of a 10.0 and gina maybe having one area of balance correction and Dina having 2 or 3 there is no question at this time in gymnastics who had the better performance... Its Gina. Though I would agree that in entertainment value and difficulty (If the sport was judged as it is today (Which sucks)) Dina did have the better performance.
because of politic and economic problems ; this country is really in crisis. No money for anything. I read somewhere that the gymnasts came back home because the national center had closed. It was 2 years ago, I think.
Aaah ukraine. They do produce some amazing gymnasts. I was just randomly looking up former soviet greats and wouldnt u know it-even Latynina is from the Ukraine. Not surprised. Ever watch men’s gymnastics? Their men are fabulous as well. I dont really watch mens near as much as the women, but I thoroughly enjoy watching them and the british men.
Seriously, after knowing all the crap that Roza went through in 1992, it's disgusting to cheer her falling off the beam in 1996. "OH YAY HER DREAMS ARE BROKEN, HER FAMILY IS SHAMED, AND SHE WILL DIE IN POVERTY!! YESSSSSSS!!!!"
@@saragrant9749 It was gross. Getting excited at an athlete falling is terrible, especially for a commentator, whatever the nationality. Seems a little weird to reply to a 7 year old comment. Sounds like maybe you should get over your own inflated sense of self-importance.
@@ipete05 only to you. You seem like the type who gets offended about absolutely everything- one of many and it’s why this world is so ridiculously hypersensitive about the stupidest things.
I think Jim and elfi were so rude about Gina's beam routine, I know she watered down her routine but she is really a great beam worker, but come on I think her routine here was a great job and got a medal for it, it very nerveless and clean
she literally only did a punch front onto the beam, and one on the beam. A few leaps and a combination dismount= Super boring routine. No risk. The announcers got it right with her routine.
that wasn't you original point. You said that the announcers were being rude because of how boring and watered down this routine was.... which it was. take a look at the other routines. People fall because they were actually taking risk. End of discussion
It wasn't even worthy of being in the finals in my opinion. They should have kept Milo and pulled Gina for Alexandra, but hey they clearly knew what they were doing because she won a medal for being clean (easy to do when you don't take any risk). In my opinion Kochetkova should have won the bronze.
