Mitsubishi were essentially replacing the entire suspension assembly at every service. They really wanted to win this event.

Mitsubishi already had prior experience of tough rally like the Safari, before that event...they won the Ivory Coast rally three times in the Galant VR-4 with Kenjiro Shinozuka and his teammate Patrick Tauziac...
