I loved the love shared between Holt and Sophie he a real man strong kind ambitious and no nonsense ...superb acting by the cast. . may Jason Bernard rest in peace
Helen Adell Coleby Johnson imagine my shock to see he died in 1996. He had a heart attack while driving and was rear ended by another automobile. May he Rest In Peace.
It is impossible for me to say enough about this soul touching movie. If only we could all open our eyes and see what a lovely world this could be if we just learned to love and respect each other. Thank you for posting this I was truely blessed by it.
I’m mixed race too . I know , I felt for all a them , especially the children and the two dear friends in question but over all it felt like an uplifting story of love conquering all 🌻♥️
Favorite part of the movie...when Holt walks back into the living room wearing Ray's red grand wizard robe after Ray had just denied the knowing anything about the clan. Ray's expression was priceless.
I love the ending when Sophie told Holt she loved him. The look on his face was the sweetest ever. And Sophie gave him the most loving smile. Absolutely beautiful.
What a great, inspiring movie. I grew up in the 50's and 60's, but I was never affected by racism, and didn't know about it until I was grown. I was raised in a small town in Wyoming. We had "black" families that lived there as well, and didn't think anything about it. The people in our town never treated them any different than anyone else. We all went to school together, all hung out together and went places together. A lot of us are still friends and are in touch with one another. I never heard the "n" word, or any other racist profiling, until I was much older. I think back on it, and I think it all hit me square in the face when I watched "Roots" on tv. I was so hurt by what I was learning, and it still affects me today. I just DO NOT understand how human beings can do this to another human being....just like the Holocaust. I have a mix of ancestory of mostly Scandivavian and English on my mother's side. I have English and Cherokee on my Fathers side. I knew my ancestors were on the Trail of Tears. I did many years of research and finally got the names and dates back to early 1800's. My mother's side always kept complete genealogy records, but one day I started to dig deeper. When I was younger, my g-grandmother was telling me stories and she simply said..." I think we may have "black" blood". Ok.... it was left at that until now. Her grandparents came west from South Carolina in the mid 1800's. I took their last name and started digging. In the meantime, one of my daughter's gave me a DNA test for Mothers Day one year. When it came back, there was the proof. 18% Nothern Africa and the Iberian Peninsula. To wrap this up, I did trace the family name back to the 1700's in North Carolina, to a plantation owner. I read his will on line and all. One of my ancestors (black and a slave) gave birth to a little girl by this plantation owner. FYI....I don't claim him !!! Of course there is more to the story....the little girl grew up and was married and had a good life. I am just as proud of this heritage as I am of my Native American heritage. In closing I will say that I believe racism is very much taught, as seen in this movie, by the 2 little girls. Also, in a society such as the one I was raised in, our parents didn't teach us such things. I am so grateful for that upbringing and just being a "good ole girl", from Wyoming. Love and God Bless you ALL ❤
What a great story! I grew up during the same time period but did experience racism-my mother is Japanese, my father from Birmingham,AL. But we lived on military bases all my life until my last 2 years in high school. I never realized people were so hateful until then. On military bases no one I knew was treated differently and there was a mix of races. My parents didn’t tolerate racist behavior or language so I didn’t have any exposure at home. Now that I’m older I realize you learn what you live, truly. It takes effort and self realization to understand you carry bias that transfers to your children and on and on. My hope is people realize how much different cultures and races enrich each life (that we take for granted) and look for the good-if you do you will find it.
I to come from slave owners, I am mixed race. I claim them even though they would not want me. Racism is a self loathing we all have, as we are by genetics from monsters and if that side we all have is cultivated enough that is what we again become. Accepting our own dark sides and knowing the difference between evil and goodness is a cross we must all bear as individuals. We are all the good the bad and the ugly and we all have freedom to choose. I choose to be good. Bless you as well. ❤
Oh, I couldn't call it nice! It's heartbreaking and not even half way through and won't carry on watching as it's too upsetting for me to think that people lived like that and still do, because of their skin colour. People who hate others because of different skin colour must be of very low intelligence!
Marion “John Wayne” stated in an interview that the killing and marginalizing of Native Americans by whites had to happen because Native Americans didn’t want to share the resources, yet some white folks quick to tell other races and ethnic groups to go back where they come from. The f🤬ing nerve.
ITS 2020,,,,IVE PASSED BY THIS MOVIE A THOUSAND TIMES, OVER THE YEARS. I NEVER KNEW IT WOULD BE THIS GOOD. I GUESS THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU THINK YOUVE WATCHED ALL THE GOOD ONES, A MUST SEE,,,IF YOU HAVENT,,MAKES ME WONDER HOW MANY OTHERS(MOVIES) ARE JUS WAITIN.. THANK YOU CORONA VIRUS *****
I have watched this movie many times over the years and i continue to love this movie. it warms my heart each and every time i watch . Beautiful movie.
@@karenbrank3619 I'm white and if I could take away the hell that some white people have put some black people through... I would in a heartbeat. 😔🙏🙏🙏💙❤️
👋i hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness prosperity love and peace 💞❤️🕊️🕊️ all over the world! Happy New year 🎆 🙏🌍 I'm originally from Canada currently living in California ☀️☀️and you where are you from if i may ask?💭
This movie is very important, it's classic and based on present day prejudices and historical bias:also show the values of loving people beyond race or creed.. Black and white issues that are still present day. This was based on 50 years ago, yet still very very relevant.. I highly recommend it..
One thing I will never understand is how a person can automatically hate another human being just because their skin is a different color. Predjudice is one of worst things in this crazy world. We were all created equal and in the image of Christ. It just saddens me. It is a taught behavior and it is being taught in all shades. Teach your children to love and accept others and not judge based on skin color.
Well, equal is not enough! Highly melanated people would need much more than we caucasians do, in order to live a fair life. We have been playing with their minds and lifes from when we first went to africa! It was a big setup against people whom are physically and spiritually stronger than us.. I just hope they wont let us keep fooling them, unite, and realize that we, white folks, are actually the minorty. That they were the ones teaching us, when the white skin was still new to this world.
kim biscari This is well said. I think they are scared. The funny thing is that there is no biological truth to "races" of people. Over time, cultures that live nearer the equator develop to have more melanin, over generations, and therefore darker skin. I could use a little more melanin myself, to process sunlight a little better...
I agree. This racism crap has been going on for too long already. If it were the reversal where whites were the minority and they were the ones being terrorized, how long would they last??? The color of the skin doesn't matter, it is the character and the quality of the individual!!! Just because someone has white skin doesn't make them quality!!!
I liked that Holt always called Sophie "Sophie Girl", and I wish that Sophie and her family would’ve corrected the Edgertons earlier instead of letting them call her "Soapie" all that time.
The world would be a better place if all race`s could get along together in peace, No matter what the skin color is, I am so glad this movie ended well.
This is one movie that gave me such a lot of satisfaction! This moonhanger man was not afraid to stand up for his family and their rights! He put all his trust and faith in God!Wow! His Boldness and courage to claim and possess his families land and properties, were awesome! The clan members were a lot of murderers and cowards! There were a lot of Caucasian Americans who were against the clan! Thank you, for uploading this great movie!
They were against them...unfortunately they opposed the Klan quietly from the comfort of their homes. While black Americans lived in absolute terror. Silence is compliance.
@@ReiOfSunahineexactly. “A lot of Caucasians who were against the clan?” Like who? You have some of the small percentage who actually fought against injustice beside us. The rest like you said stayed silent in their homes like cowards.
I want me a moon hanging man-he needed her to hang on to the dream with him; when she was weak he was strong! She was just as strong; when he wanted to quit she would not let him. She believed in him and it gave him new life. They balanced each other; she thanked God for her man and saying he's the finest blessing a woman could have! Together, we can do anything!
What an amazing movie! I will be watching it again and again. We have come such a long way and yet these old ways still exist. I remember a Klan member coming to our house and asking my husband to join the Klan it was a weekly thing. He politely turned them down and said to me and I quote: Diane if ever I ask you shut your mouth this would be the time. I did because I knew the power they held and still do. I know this is a movie but Holt stood up and stood strong and proud. This horrid way of thinking can only be changed for the better if one stands up stands strong and stands proud. We are a tri-racial family both black white and native. I wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoy and believe and pray because that's what keeps us strong.
Beautiful Burlesque all cultures have aspects in their heritage that are shameful. for example African tribes would capture each other and sell them to slave ships. I see what your saying though.
Hi I roared laughing too! And THEN I thought, there’s TRUTH in that, because Our Lord BREATHED into Adam’s nostrils, The Breath of Life! Resurrection is ‘ Take two’ on that! Shalom to us only in Christ Yeshua returning soon to reign over the world from Jerusalem forever.
who ever gave this movie a thumbs down should be kicked in the knee. What a beautiful, loving movie and what a sinister act being prejudiced is. Shame and just gut- rot awfulness. I am white and these portrayals disgust me. All of us are God's children, we all must treat each other as we'd treat our loved ones. Amen. God bless this movie and the obvious message of the blessing of Love and Right; it brings.
"White man speak with forked tongue." The hypocrisy sickens me. Treat the devoted maid and caretaker like a member of the family, while all the time plotting to destroy her. Sociopaths in plain sight. 😤😟
cried my eyes out. Reality is so very hard to know. I think that is why most of us surround ourselves with "play things" whatever they may be. Bless you all!!
With all due respect, ma'am - we all already are the color God put on us right here on Earth. Red, Yellow, Black, Brown and White - these are all God's colors. They are all different, but very much the same... precious in His sight.
I just saw this movie today and loved it ! Isn't it amazing what a little faith and courage can do ? And how ugly hate can be ? Racism should never have existed. It is the cause of crime not the end of it.
Great movie. I watched this before. A few years back. I couldn't remember how it ended. But, I was sure glad it had a good ending. Thanks for the upload!
