Notice how the commercial says "Super Gymnast" and not "Olympic Gymnast" by IOC rules, if you are not an official Olympic sponsor, you cannot make a reference to the Olympic games in any way to advertise anything. Even if this aired WHILE the Atlanta 96 games were happening. This applies to all levels. Lets say you have a little hot dog stand in Atlanta and are offering "Olympic Dogs" at a discount to help sales. That's a big no and the IOC can, and will, ask the organizing city to close up that little hot dog stand. Only Olympic sponsors can benefit in any way from organizing the Olympic Games. Local businesses be damned.
Incorrect on this doll. This was for markets that weren’t the US. The 1996 Olympic gymnast barbie is the same doll with a uniform that uses the 1996 Atlanta Olympics logo. The commercial is almost the same as this one too, but references to the US have been cut from this one. You can find it on RU-vid. Search Olympic gymnast Barbie 1996.
