Very nice video but I can't believe they are putting these into museums now. I have a 1996 Suzuki GSXR-1100 in the Black and purple color which I have never seen another of on the street. I bought this bike brand new in 1998 (it was still in the crate and had to be assembled by the dealer when I bought it). It has been my regular Sunday cruiser and maybe some errands in town during the week with the total mileage being just about 30,000. I know most are looking for something with low mileage but I don't think this is all that high for a 20 year old bike. It is mostly stock including the windscreen, exhaust, refelectors, directionals, sticker on tank, etc. It has never been down, not even dropped and has always been garaged since day 1. I don't live in a rust prone climate so there is absolutely no rust that could possibly be found no matter where you dig and look, every nut and bolt can be turned. It has a new stator which is a huge and I mean huge expense (they are internal on this bike) and can only be obtained from a wreck if you can find one or in my case I had to order one from Japan and it cost about $1,200 for the part and for it to get installed). Last year I had new tires, new brakes, front & rear sprockets, chain, and a full tune up done including adjusting the valves. I had contemplated trading it in this coming year as I want to get one of those new Polaris slingshots and I am getting older so the longer rides are a bit harder nowadays. But now I am wondering if I should just keep it in the garage for another 10 years and see what the value really does do. I asked a local dealer if they were interested in taking it in on trade but they were upfront and said they really aren't the best buyer for a bike like that because they are not going to pay a fair value for it like a collector or somebody looking for that bike would. I don't really want to sell it off to somebody that is just going to hack it up for a track or wreck it so maybe I'll dig around and see if there are any motorcycle museums in Colorado that may want to use it for display awhile or maybe I'll find a collector that wants to add it to their collection and also see it preserved for a long time. Anybody know a museum or collector in or around Colorado that may have some interest?
That’s awesome, I bought my ‘95 1100 new in December 1994 and I still own the bike, I’d never part w it! It’s super clean, and I agree I love my Purple color scheme, I was offered the Factory color “Blue and White” when I contacted my dealer in 1994 and I turned it down……I didn’t want what everyone else was buying or had! I wanted the Black and Purple and so glad that’s what I got! I love the bike and will never ever part w it…..
