You can also build a direct voltage adapter for a few dollars !

Thanks once again watched many of your vids restoring 2000 cr250r first thing that tested out was the kill switch easy fix went and bought a new ignition coil and everything

Very good video You did test the cap Coil wire and cap 10.4 to 11 ohms Coil.and wire 5 to 6 ohms Cap 5 to 6 ohms Any lower then it should be replaced The more spark you have the better your fuel will burn. If your Meter jumps around than it is no good this happen on the caps alot. OEM Replacement coil is a Crf 450 MEB coil 2002 to 2008 Hope this helps

My 1999 cr250 won't hit power band. Idles great, starts easily, tons of compression, (recent top end) new cdi, kill switch, plugs, clutch plates. My mechanic gave up, I'm no mechanic and no one else will look at it. Very frustrating. Thanks your videos are awesome

My 99 cr250 has spark when I pull the plug and strap it to the outside of the cylinder. Sparks great and tests fine. Then I put the plug back in, k8ck it and it cranks then di3s and won't start again until I pull the plug back out and test it again, just to install it and pop for a second and then no crank again!!! Wtf?!?!

Should I be geting a result in K ohms on secondary? Mine keeps showing K ohms when I test secondary and primary is right o .3 ohm

Hello my dear! When running my 1997 CR 250 it is making noise in the exhaust like a shot. What would be the cause of the problem?

If its backfiring it's a lean condition post combustion. So air is getting in through the exhaust or sub-exhaust valve.

You will need a 12v AC regulator.

@@Fixyourdirtbike yes, but the cr250 has no alternator to generate 12 v.

The stater is the alternator. What kind of light do you want to install? The 12v regulator is required to run a small halogen or LED. If you want to run a full headlight to drive on the street you will need to upgrade the stator and flywheel, and add a battery.

Ok so I have a multimeter and DVA, ready to go. just a couple of stupid questions, when you say remove the CDI do you mean disconnect both plugs from it while doing all these tests? also what is the wire you put it the terminals to attach the crocodile clips? thanks again

Yes, unplug everything going to the CDI. I'm just using basic utility wire, but anything conductive will work.

@@Fixyourdirtbike All checked out except peak voltage on ignition coil was 48 V instead of 100 V min. Can you kick it enough to get 100 V as yours didn't in this example and you say exciter coil can't be kicked enough manually to get peak voltage? I'm assuming my ignition coil is shot

Question for you, just rebuilt a 97 cr250 engine (all stock specs). Exhaust valve seems to be operating correctly and stock settings on carb. It has a fatty pipe, turbine core 2 silincer and v-forve 3 reeds with a 48 sprocket in the rear. Bike runs great lots of low end power and mid but the top in just feels a little flat to me. What would be the cause of that? Shall I try step up on jets or I have been reading about advancing or retarding the timing which I have no experience on how that would effect a 2-stroke motor.

Bump up your main jet one size and see what you get. I wouldn't bother with the timing.
