Here is the process required to replace the two cabin air filters on a second-gen Y33 Infiniti Q45.
DO NOT DISCONNECT THE YELLOW AIRBAG HARNESS.
The upper filter goes in first and comes out last. It is retained by the lower filter once both are in place. I bought my filters from an eBay vender for $10.95/pr and free shipping and I suggest you do the same.

Those Infinitis required too much damn disassembly to replace those cabin filters, the new ones are much worse. Just to change the air filters on the G37's required some creative tweaking of every part under the hood.

I'm about to replace the filters on my 99 Q45. This video is very helpful. I'm guessing my filters will look somewhat like yours did, i have almost 240k miles.
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage 9 лет назад
QuickScopes2009 Probably. People tend to overlook the need to replace them. The AC worked better afterward as well.
@Jimothy408
@Jimothy408 9 лет назад
WhoSaidTyler Yes they do. Whenever i turn my AC on, it smelled pretty pungent like dry urine or dried dirty water. I just took the old filters out and oh man they were disgusting. I vacuumed what rest of the gunk left inside. i sprayed febreze on the new filters and put them in. I know the scent won't last very long but it's very present. The whole thing took me about 25 minutes.

This is helpful, but not entirely enough info. to do it well. You do NOT need to disconnect ANY of the connectors from either the lower trim panel or the glove box. The wires are long enough to just allow these to be set aside. The trim panel pulls toward the seat but be sure the 2 front tabs at the firewall are loosened. It takes a very firm pull because there are hidden tabs on the edge facing the seat, and keep your face out of the way! Then its very easy to loosen the 5 screws holding the glove box in place, leave the latch screws for last as a prior viewer recommended, and change the filters. There are also hidden tabs at the top of the glove box that may need use of dull edge putty knife (don't cut the vinyl dashboard) to disengage. Buy good quality filters (they will be $20-$30) as the cheap ones will soon clog and your next change will be in 12,000 miles rather than 24,000. Reverse the steps to complete. This is a 20" job if you follow these guidelines--not hard, but frustrating if you haven't seen it done before. I was floored to get a quote of $125 from Infiniti in 2018 for this ($62.00 for filters and $63.00 labor/shop fee). This is a 10-15" job for an experienced technician.

Tell me about it. I’ve been trying to find a used one for the struts at least to get me by but here in Atlanta Ga these people are trying to strike it rich off of some used shocks . While the dealer want $1600 . I love this car so I’m definitely considering the purchase

I have a 2000 Q45 with 140k miles and the air flow is great, doesn't smell, no odors, nothing. Just as good as when I bought it. I don't think I'll be replacing those filters anytime soon. But, thanks for the video. I do need a new alternator, though. My second one. First one lasted me 13 years. The second, only 5 years.

Just in time, as this is something Ive been putting into works on our Infiniti Q45. I feel the airflow isn't as powerful as it should be for such a large car, and it does occasionally smell. This is also a great eye opener as to what the evaporator coils look like on cars not equipped with cabin air filters. So your door checks are worn out too? I know these things have some heavy doors...
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage 10 лет назад
I had a feeling this might lure you out of hiding...yeah the door checks are really weak. Next up is putting on the new hood supports.

Leave the latch bar till last to loosen, Why? It holds the glovebox from falling out as you loosen the lower screws

@richardhart59
@richardhart59 4 года назад
@@homeykeysling1957 Thanks. Mine has a bad driver side knock sensor and it looked impossible to change without a teardown of the top of the engine. I just advanced the timing 5 degrees to compensate for the retard signal of the sensor and it runs quite well. But it might be best to get the sensor replaced. Incidentally, I never hear a knock even with regular (87 octane) fuel. Perhaps the passenger side detects a knock and retards the spark? Used to buy premium but noticed no better performance, either.

how about the driver side do it have a cabin air filter as well?
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage 10 лет назад
Those are the only filters. They are located so that 100 percent of the airflow to the car gets filtered, so no other filters needed for the driver side.
