How to deal with rusty stuck torsion bars while installing the 5" rough country lift kit on a 2002 f150. Same for 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003. Torsion key removal tool not required.
Very great and informative video! I have an 02 FX4 Supercrew that I want to lift eventually, but for now, it fits nicely in the garage lol. It seems intimidating how you had to build the spacers yourself, but they look amazing!
thanks for the video, i'm putting a 6" lift kit from cheap country on my 99 f150 and was wondering jow to do this without the torsionbar key, and mione are rusty as hell too.
A little heat with MAP gas torch and an air hammer would get those torsion bars right out....The truck turned good...there nothing like the look of a lifted 10th gen.
If you jack the front end up and install cement blocks under the frame so the front tires are hanging and off the ground a bit , you won't need any special tools to remove the locking bolt in the key . But I had too break the key to free the torsion bar hex end because it was frozen solid.
I don’t t remember where I saw them but I found a set of key adapters that keep the torsion arms up in the factory position instead of dropping them way down with your setup. Have you seen these and what do you think if so?
Hi Kris, I'm tearing down a 2000 F150 7700 parts truck to rebuild my 2003 F150 7700 and I'm just about ready to drop the transmission/transfer case. I see that you removed the torsion bar mounting cross member w/the bars, and tensioner intact. If I understand correctly, you didn't need to relieve tension at the tensioner device because you first disconnected the upper A-arm? (This next question is dumb) But why can't I just back off the torsion device tensioning bolt without using the special C-clamp tool?, Thanks. Tim
I have a 2001 f150 4wd i can never find anyone doing much to them lol Yours is the perfect height. Where did you get your wheel spacer that convert to 6 lug? My truck has old weld racing wheels that are 5 lug but i'd love to get something newer looking
I’m having the same problem with my 4”. The brake lines won’t go down any and have a bunch of tension on them now with it all hooked up, did you figure it out?
How exactly did you remove the torsion crossmember from the frame. I am working on doing the same thing to my truck and for the life of me I can't get the torsion bar assembly out of the frame.
It's tricky, you have to shove it to one side and try to get one corner out of the frame, then you can slide it out of the other side. Sorry, I should have filmed that.
@@kriswilliams4850 I appreciate the reply bud. I got mine out this afternoon, ended up beating the torsion bars out. They actually came out pretty easy
Question: when you replaced all your suspension components did you send it out for an alignment or did it all fall back into place? I am redoing my 97 4X4 off road with upgraded stock kit. Great Video BTW!!
Man I hope you've improved on your jack stand techniques. Because in the beginning you are under that truck with what looks like 2 jack stands with a wooden 4x4 block in between the jack stand and truck on one side, and it's barely on the frame it appears. On the other side it's a 2x4 block that's 2 long and it's barely in-between the stand and frame like edge of the 2x4. Even if they were properly aligned you don't use blocks between the 2. Now not recommended but I sometimes do this, you can put the wood(s) under the jack and on stable ground. Accurately: jack stands of proper height and size. Leave working properly jack closest to you and where you are working. 1,2,3, or 4 of the vehicles rim(tire) laying flat near your position or the closest to ground part of the vehicle that isn't suspension related. Chock wheels left on the vehicle. Etc etc ... great video though just wanna bring awareness like someone did me before it was 2 late. Stay safe
I'd take those spacers off there not legal cus the rim isn't resting in the centre like a hub ur whole weight of truck and rim is all on lugs besides this being very dangerous to u and to others . Hub centric is what u need besides that truck looks good good video
Heat with a little wd 40 would have made them come out there never going to come out with just a hammer get a torch heat it up to cherry ball red pops right out
