My theory about that is that time filters out the stuff that isn't very good. The past will look and sound better because you aren't exposed the mediocre stuff that was popular at the time, only the best stuff.
dohaperson1 Wardrobe malfunctions? Cursing? Drunk? Yeah, three women, being cheerful, charming, and enjoying themselves and the moment is indeed classy.
I never tire of watching these three together. Such class! Such talent! Today’s women in Hollywood seem to only care about who can show the most and get by with it. Class has surely flushed down the toilet in exchange for nothingness. Nothing today compares to yesterday. Today’s stuff is a waste of my time. Netflix offers more for me than the big screen and I can fix my own popcorn the way I like it.
I was thinking similarly very recently. How blockbusters such as Thelma & Louise, Silence of the Lambs, Misery, The Fugitive etc, gave such excitement when you had to queue at the cinema and then wait years before reliving the excitement when it came out on VHS to buy (or you could rent it from the video shop that had the big cardboard cutouts like a mini Hollywood in your own town). Now it’s just all reality dipshits and kids calling RU-vidrs ‘iconic’. If anyone called me a ‘boomer’ over this, I’d take such pride in that (despite them not having a clue what an actual boomer is), and pity them for being born into a society where you need an Instagram account as much as a pair of lungs to survive and integrity is something they can spell as well they can display.
What a ladies, great, with integriti, talents and so, so gifted, but still so human and amazing. Thank you Bette, Goldie, and Diane, thanks for your music, acting, entertaining us, you deserve a big thanks definitely.
Great lineup of songs. Sure, Diane Warren and her "Because You Loved Me" were the best. Keaton, Hawn and Midler are great and hilarious. I really miss this times... Academy Awards Ceremony was so much better...
No, this is the 1997 Academy Awards. They always award the films from the previous year. Just like 2012 films will be awarded at the 2013 Oscars, and "Titanic" though it came out in 1997 was awarded at the 1998 ceremony.
For me they are the goddess of the movie! This is the level of skill! Especially the three vmese ... And now look at the starlets and you think something is wrong with the movie or actor or stsenapry game ...? After all these actresses nereanogo level and only for the sake of them is ready to go to the movies, to revise earlier work ... I am happy that I was living with them at the same time and wish that this time out, and movies with their participation
the 69th academy awards should be ashamed at themselves for not nominating these other songs from a movie made in 1996: 'someday' from 'the hunchback of notre dame' missing you' from 'set it off' i believe i could fly' from 'space jam' and 'change the world' from 'phenomenon'
justin fleming or hellfire - gosh that song was so deep - it doesnt just work as a villain song but as an innter turmoil song of coming to grips with religion and lust.
1997 was a really competitive year in the best song category. Even the least well-known candidate -- Kenny Loggins's "For The First Time" -- was good enough to win in a weaker year. And so was Because you Loved Me.
In my opinion, cinema and TV gave us the best threesome: The Three Stooges The Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus 1 & 2 And The First Wives club I never saw so much chemistry in actors as with those trios
Bette was mean to Madonna. I love Bette but that was uncalled for. Madonna sang so beautifully this night and it was terrifying for her. More importantly why was gorgeous Diane dressed as an ER Nurse?
So Goldie you know Streisand 4 twenty five yrs? Learn how to pronounce her name. Streisand-soft SAND. NOT STRIESEND!!!! Barbra has said that for years.
Just listen to the vocabulary they used. Nowadays people don't even know half of those basic words, because the world has been taken over by vulgarity.
