These 3 are the best Hollywood has to offer, i simply adore them too bad that we get so little of them to see,let them do and, sppear in many mire films
I have three sisters, but could never choose who I wanted to play most in our driveway practices & performances. I was the only one who liked turtle necks and men's trench coats (I liked Vogue in the 90's & my sister's were more into Hilary Duff *who could blame them, Cadette Kelly was the tits*), so I ended up playing Diane Keaton a lot even though half red hair. My older sister had short hair and used sun in (of course lmao) and she liked Bette's skirt. My younger sister was my mom's mini me & therefore loved Goldie Hawn. God these are such good memories. Especially the time we did the whole thing in our Christmas roller blades (minus the chair part). *and yes we used all of my mother's white clothes, but once it had started it was too late*
I was probably 12 when this movie came out on VHS and let me tell you I must have watched this movie 100 times. I'm pretty sure I could still recite every line of this movie.
A fabulous version of this song!! Bette has the voice and Diane is really good, but I can’t take my eyes off of Goldie- elegant moves and great rhythm !!
I believe Goldie started out as a dancer if I remember correctly. I’m old enough to remember her on Laugh In in the ‘60s. A standout in an exceptional cast of performers
I’m always crying watching it . It’s a mixed feeling. I feel proud and powerful knowing I was raised by my beautiful strong mother and that so many amazing strong brave woman raised me during my adolescence. I am so grateful to be a woman. Dear woman ! If you read it, remember you are worth only good things in life - work , partner etc . Stay strong and never ever give up !!! After bad day - week - month , there will always come something good 😊 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love the women in the comments getting all emotional and empowered by this song which was written by two men (of course) and made famous by a lesbian, Leslie Gore. So typical; who can explain women to women better than men and lesbians. :)
I watched this every chance I got as a little girl in the 90's. I was far too young to understand the dark emotions behind the suicide of a friend, divorce, or building a business but I always just really loved the friendship between the Goldie's, Bette's, and Diane's characters. Every time they shared the scene they were either a lot of fun or really compassionate. And I *loved* the musical bit at the end and would get up and dance and sing around the living room with them. lol
I am a Brit, and I remember this film being on the tv, and we recorded it on our vhs (remember those). My husband loved this film and we played the song ending over and over, dancing the moves. He died many years ago and just coming across this song was just great. Lots of memories. Music does that. The old vhs has long gone, but I remembered the words to the song. The three ladies were great. So glad to come across this ending. 🇬🇧👌👏
It's crazy to me that I watched this as a kid, laughed throughout--and the whole context was over my head: why they were singing this song, in particular; what it would have meant to them, coming of age in the 60s... how you think you understand a movie, and you're missing half of the meaning
@@wendysmith2255 Took me a long time to realize that, "Operation Hell's Fury" was a direct reference to the quote, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." I'm 37 years old, seen this film too many times to count. Still love it :D
I don't care how many i watch this movie, it send chills down my back because it delivers one powerful message to all us women that we count. Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton are just so awesome together.
Absolutely, but the words hit home, not due to the feminist times but logic proved each girl must learn to be responsible for herself not cling to a man for survival. To be strong learn to educate yourself and then work to save yourself and earn a living to survive in this crazy world.
Agreed!!! Have not watched the film (don't judge me) but these women are wonderful individually and watching this scene makes me see a chemistry between them, so I don't doubt you're correct.
I'm here because I guess I lucked out 54 years ago married to a man who didn't say I had to do his bidding! At nearly 72 I've had a blast travel places most only dream of, owned my own business, an did things because of that business that was definitely on my bucket list. Point is find the right man he doesn't own you, he adores you, loves you, n you walk thru life with places to go and things to do sometimes together n sometimes alone. But he always near if needed, that's love at its best . ❤️
Mom claimed she had no idea I was gay. While Grandma would enjoy watching me perform this, when this was my favorite movie at age 7! Miss you so much Grandma!
Three iconic women! This is such a funny, cute & liberating scene. I bet they had a BLAST filming it. These women r hysterical & really just incredible in every role they have taken on, so to see them together in 1 movie is such a treat!!
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!..
When this song first came out young women were expected to get married, stay home, have a few kids, and worship their husbands... this song was revolutionary and Leslie Gore was a true heroine for having the nerve to release it. There was tremendous backlash against it... I was in high school in Ohio at the time and I knew a dozen girls whose parents forbade them to listen to it - they did anyway - and , for some of them at least, it had a profound effect on their lives.
Yes, it was round the time the second wave of feminism was gaining momentum...especially with books like Germaine Greer's The Female Eunuch and Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique. A lot of things began back then that women take for granted today.
Watched this movie when it first came out in a crazy little theatre in Manhattan. My mom and my sister and I were there on Thanksgiving; went to the parade, had breakfast on a paper plate in a long hallway-sized diner, tea at the Ritz and then this movie. Thanks for the fabulous memory jog.
Goldie Hawn, Cher, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Julie Walters, Cate Blanchette and Angelina Jolie are my favourite actresses of all time especially Goldie and Meryl x
Estelle Collins Even though she's a newer actress, I would add Jennifer Lawrence to that list. Time will be VERY kind to her career. She has the looks sure, but she undoubtedly has the talent to be added to that list.

I genuinely love this version on the song, I can't put my finger on it, but just the chemistry between these three ladies and their dancing like they don't give a shit anymore and walking away like they've been liberated and I just love it. I've probably seen this movie, but I don't really remember it other than this song. 🙈 Will have to watch it again.
Beautiful performances buy the three superstars of yesterday this is what's missing in today's performances showmanship at its best thank you first wives club Diane Goldie bette
I remember Goldie on Laugh In as a dumb blonde. She's come along way. Diane in the God father. Plus outlandish Bette with her great singing turns into a movie star. Cool movie and all three woman are great women in their own way.
HOOOOOW .. the best memories are always beautiful, I think their love and ambition is the support of their own way which have turned into a Star Cinema,
Loved this song and movie, "The First Wives Club!" ! It got me through my darkest hours from a serial cheatin husband with many mistresses! Thanx Bette, Goldie and Diane! I can imagine how much fun making this movie must have been!!! U Go Girls!
Thanks for sharing! This is the first time I've heard the term, "Serial cheater." That's a good one! Back in the days of innocence a cereal cheater would have been someone who dug the prize out of the bottom of the box while it was still full.
Truth! Lesley Gore's song is what kept me sane for 31 years of a 31.5 year marriage. "Serial cheater" deluxe; YES, I was krazee to stay for so long. He filed! 😎 Good riddance! 16 years since - life is wonderful! 💃
Jay Briggs seriously! I was just going through a couple of 80s movies I watched as a kid in the 90s, this was one of them, beaches was another I came across today. And honestly they both brought me so far back!! I can only hope my kids will get that feeling one day with movies I watch with them
The 1990s music owes its very existence to the 1950s and 1960s and 1970s - those are the "roots" music decades. R.I.P. Icon Lesley Gore. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~

These three women are fantastic, such a powerful chemistry between them...I enjoy the fact that they shine equally, actresses nowadays must learn for them
When I was with my ex I would play this song often to remind myself he didn’t own me. I’m a very traditional woman but He was controlling and tried so hard to change me. Sometimes I would tell him that he was in love with the idea of who he wanted to make me and not who I actually was. He wanted me to be like a doll. For him it was normal bc in our country men tend to be more dominating. I’m no longer with him and I’m reminded that he and NO man owns me. I’m young, free, and exactly who God is making me to be 💅🏾💄👄💃🏾. Best girl anthem ever!
i remember when i was younger i’d always cry during this scene, it was such a strong, empowering and encouraging scene, and i could feel pride of being myself and nobody owned me, i was me, like i will always be, unapologetically. i felt so proud of them that all that joy would come out in tears, always
Oh sad!!!! You only cried when you were younger...I can cry at any movie like this but being 68 doesnt stop me doing so. I guess when Im 90 I can say I used to cry when I was younger...you want to see me cry watch 'Michael' or 'Bridges of Madison County' or 'Message in a bottle' or 'Titanic' ' night in Rodanth'...want me to go on????? Ha ha ...they dont make great movies any more!!
Ooooooh, what a memorable FEEL-GOOD finale‼️ Heavenly perfect‼️ A true win for a female audience…. [If you agree, GIRLS, show it with a 👍, won’t you⁉️] 💙🎼💜
This is one of my favorite movies. Casting for this movie was absolutely brilliant. Bette Midler, Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, Dame Maggie Smith, Stockard Channing, Eileen Heckart, Marcia Gay Harding, and the list goes on, such powerful actresses and actors that make this movie an absolute joy to watch whether it is your first time watching or you have watched one hundred times. This scene is so epic, it explodes with energy from these 3 legendary stars. Can you imagine imagine the fun they all had making this move!?!

I know this might be offensive to some but this is the best version of this song. Probably because this is where I first heard it and fell in love with it but I must not be alone With 7.5m views! So inspirational with the movie. Especially since I'm a divorced woman now lol
Elizabeth Calloway the first version I heard was as part of Dirty Dancing soundtrack, but this version performed by such talented actresses is unforgetable
I have searching for this scene for years and could never remember the name of the movie it came from. So glad it showed up in recommended. Brings back many memories of watching this as a child with my parents. Love it
Respect for actress alley I loved her since the 80s cheers, summer school and many more I'll miss you alley😭😭😭😭😭😭 Chantal schug mn , fridley let's shout it out!! For her everyone😿😿😿😿😔😔😔
I was about nine when I saw the movie for the first time. Today a friend showed me a new version of the song but for me this is the best version. Great and funny movie, legendary actresses...a perfect ending scene.
im a man but this empowers my inner woman lol Edit 3 years later: I've never had this many likes before! 😮 but I'm more happy about the comments and how it made people laugh and smile. Warms my heart. And made my day
