This is the game where it went all down the toilet for the Cowboys that season and especially Barry Switzer. The Packers finally exercised their demons for this one game. Then Favre never won in Dallas his whole career, but at least for this one game the Packers showed how good they were.
@@kaybevang536 How did Jimmy fair during free agency? Hard to keep together a team that has tons of guys leave every year for big money. Hard when RT Erik Williams and CB Kevin Smith both have career altering injuries. DE Charles Haley and TE Jay Novacek both have career ending back injuries. Hard to do it when your offense led by the king of scapegoating doesn't do a damn thing for 2 straight seasons.
@@jamesgurksnis4392 True, but I'd add that the legendary 90's Cowboy teams were much tougher to overcome (especially when you play them on the road almost every time) than the Jason Garrett-coached teams that were good at times but never became elite.
@@bocronfield6478 Yeah, even if few truly expected Green Bay to lose that game, but got beaten by a very good, but not exactly thought to be better Denver team going into it. But John Elway played his heart out, while he simply wasn't going to be denied that day though. It was like that tough loss put an end to the thought to be beginning of the Brett Favre lead Packers dynasty, which never was either. Who's minds did it ever cross that Holmgren would leave the team after the following season, while Favre would never again get another ring after his lone one in 96 for that matter too?
1997 just what an Absolutely Disgusting And Sickening year that it was for That Legendary 🏈Dallas Cowboys Team And Having Tragically ended their Regular Season with a 6➖10 Loosing Record And Bringing The Bitter And Tragic End Of Barry Switzer’s Head Coaching Career Down To His Final Decision Of Resigning !!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
The moment we all been waiting for in Week 13 the showdown of the year with the Cowboys and Packers in the soap opera of DALLAS in early action on FOX/Sunday Ticket is: Showdown In TitleTown 🧀🧀😊😊. The Packers been waiting for this day with the Cheesehesds buring Emmitt jerseys and the hatred they have since the " Ice Bowl" and the last 6 meetings including playoffs and they all in been in Dallas, but this time its on the Frozen Tundra and the crowd was in a frenzy as it was the final explosion for Switzer and the Cowboys as it would be a losing streak and the end of a dynasty in flames. The agressive Packers defense and offense came out by sacking Aikman and good defense by Deion Sanders but the Packers offense fires a bullet first by Farve to Dorsey Levens for a 7-0 lead. Then throws to Deion as its Primetime in the end zone as its 7-7. Then its the Frozen Tundra where the Chesseheads are the law as they retaliate on the Boys more than ever with Farve,Mark Chumura, and the boys as Farve throws to Freeman but pass INT on Deion and Farve hits Mark Chumura once but twice with Levens bullying through Boys, but help is not on the way as Jerry Jones comes down on the sidelines as Emmitt Smith scores a TD as the puppermaster is pleased but Levens would be the workhorse on the ground as he in the mood with 25 carries and 145 yards in the 2nd and Farve with 288 passing yards and 4 TD's as its was a " Beatdown In Titletown as a cowboys fumble seals the deal with a TD and 45-17 the curse is over for the regining champs against the Packers as Lambeau turns into a ticker take parade as for the Cowboys, the curse has begun and last 25 years and counting as the writing is on the wall and 1997 is gonna be a funeral on a 5 game losing streak. End of Lesson ( Pat Summerall and John Madden & Pam Oliver on the call on this game 1:00 😊 How bout them Cheesheads!! ) . Class Note: The 1st win for Green Bay over Dallas since 1989 on Christmas Eve when they had Sterling Sharpe, and they were in a postition to get in the playoffs, but the MNF finale with the Bengals and Vikings ended that with Minnesota winning and the Packers facing a 1-15 Cowboys team of now Hall of Famer Jimmy Johnson.
This was the end of the whole Cowboys dynasty. They were 6-2 then didn’t win another game. It was also an alltime great revenge game for the Packers. They ended the dynasty after the dynasty cost them 3 rings.
By the time the Packers beat dallas it was irrealavent! Dallas wasnt making the playoffs. People forget they played in the 96 regular season and dallas beat the eventual champs! I wish dallas beat Carolina and played G.B. I the nfc championship so it would've been a proper run! But like most sports it was semi anti climatic with them whuppin Carolina instead !
They beat an injury-ravaged version of GB in that regular season game you refer to: no Freeman, no Brooks, no Chmura, & I think even Beebe was shelved w/ injury that week. Other than Keith Jackson, Favre was throwing to Terry Mickens & Desmond Howard--who was a specialist, not a legit NFL WR.
@@darshloaf You took the words right out of my mouth. Green Bay's offense was garbage. The defense played a solid game. All Dallas could muster was 7 field goals, one in garbage time, just to get the record.
Chris Kreager He was the workhorse on the ground, the crowd was like a parade after that touchdown at Lambeau. Help was not on the way, dial 911 for the Boys.
