1997 Daytona 500 Dale Earnhardt wreck and Interview 

1997 Daytona 500 bad luck strikes Dale Earnhardt in his 19th attempt to win the Great American Race. This is television broadcast coverage of the wreck, an edit to pit row, and then a quick edit to his post-race interview. What the TV did not pick up was after getting in the ambulance, he saw the wheels still on the car and asked one of the wreckers to fire the engine on the #3 and when it started up he hopped back in the mashed-up car, and drove it to pit row. There will never be another Dale Earnhardt. It is cool to hear directly from Dale about the accident and the respect he shows the other drivers involved in the melee. Dale would win the 500 the following year.
