That is the exact paint and color my 97 wide glide is. Just bought mine 2 years ago with 57k miles. Drove from Michigan to Big Bend Wisconsin to pick her up. My Cobra exhaust pipes broke so I put some drag pipes on the other day. That really makes the engine sound excellent. Great video sir. 👍
@@stacysdad5071 sold mine too same year with 27k miles with over 15,000 in upgrades, do I miss her? Yes, but we move on in life. Plus it's kinda dangerous here in Miami and it was a money pit.
1. What inch rise are the Tbars. 2....if you ever trade this bike in, take the right rear axle nut cover off before you do. Ill buy it. I have 97 too and I am missing that part cant find a replacement anywhere lol
@@jkphoto58 fair enough, thank you.. but today a stock 883 can be blown up real easy real quick requiring expensive repairs and upgrades, almost like it was designed that way. I guess I’m asking if the older engines were more durable because many even rebuilt ones are still “stock” with 100s of thousands of miles on some.. I don’t see many sportsers newer than 2000s with over 50,000 miles that don’t require an overhaul… were the old ones the same, was it what ever forced the use of lighter oil that reduced longevity in the newer motors?
@@bmint years ago I had a 4 speed 883 sporty upgraded to 1200 wiseco pistons. When I picked it up for the 20 mile ride home it truly shook me the diff in power from 883.shows how long ago.it was as the bill was about £500 all in.
Could never figure out why people are so obsessed with the temp. of a HD electric start engine before startup! Maybe with a older kick start bike but not a Evo!! Almost like the salvage bike dismantlers demonstrating the turn signals work on a salvage bike. Something to do I guess!
Idk if it translates. But I have an 84 honda shadow 700 that I'm restoring and it's hell to try and start it cold with an electric start. And it had less than 6k original miles on it. Already cleaned out the tanks of bad gas, cleaned the carbs well, and if it wasn't for the tires I'd be riding it right now.
The reason for a cold startup is to show how the engine operates when it's cold compared to already having been run and reaching running temperature. especially with carbureted engines they need to be warmed up before use.
