This interview with Tom Lester, who played Eb on the Green Acres TV show from 1965 to 1971 was made in Union City, Tennessee in October of1997, to be aired on The Hinton & Collier Show, a weekly show on WHQ-TV in Murray Kentucky.
Mr Lester was my neighbor in Laurel MS. He walked the neighborhood every single day. Such a nice man. Wish there were more people like him in this country.
Robin Williams was a HUGE Alvy Moore fan. In fact, Robin incorporated much of his tics and twitching mannerisms from Alvy into his stage act and overall persona.
I never met Hank Kimble.....well not exactly never.....more like always......he was like a brother to me......nope, I didn't have a brother, must have been a sister............come to think of it......I was an only child.....well not a child really.....more like a......
GREEN ACRES is and will always be the greatest sitcom ever created. All of the actors were perfect for their characters. I had the honor years ago of meeting Frank Cady when he was in town visiting his brother, attorney Don Cady and Dons son, also an attorney, Frank. So wonderful that we are able to watch all these programs on u-tube!
I just started to Watch reruns and it's been great. I'm 63 and I watched it when I was a kid and it always bugged me how they never fixed up their place And I forever love arnold
It was Pat Butrum who said if "the rural Purge, "they cancelled every show with a tree in it," meaning all the rural shows. At the time these shows we getting high ratings
Tom Lesters View on the situation in our country is spot on,if we had people like Tom Lester in office running this country,it certainly would put more of a smile on the face of our creator,GOD BLESS Tom Lester,Thank You for someone that finally displays intellect and moral value of the way things should be in our nation,Love You Tom Lester!
This is a great interview. Never knew he was from Laurel, MS and was an Ole Miss Rebel ( Hotta Toddy, Geaux to Hell Ole Miss). Seemed like a genuine nice guy and a gentleman. I have no problem with his “rant” and also hopes he Rests in Peace.
Tom Lester may you rest in peace in God's kingdom for you see the light and speak the the truth! It is the year 2021 and the spiritual values and morals in the United States have declined since 1997. Very sad
You know Tom was at Alvy's home the morning he passed away of a massive heart attack, he had stayed overnight they were going to attend a golf tournament together. Yes, they were really close friends right to the end, what a great pair of guys.
Just came across this video (Sunday 1/22/23). Tom really lifted my spirits (or exorcised them). I was happy to hear him talk about Alvy Moore, being a saved soul up in heaven. "It was a long life ... well, not really long ..." I loved the character he portrayed on that show. All the cast were fantastic. I read or heard that Eddie and Eva remained great friends till she passed away. After she passed away, Eddie went into a deep depression. After reading or hearing that, it made me wonder if he was always secretly in love with her. What guy wouldn't fall in love with her?
Tom would vote for you. Tom are 110% right. You sound like a great American. We need a whole lot more people in our Country just like you. You are sorely missed. You were a great man and a great person and also a very very funny actor.
Nobody agrees absolutely with what anybody says. But I agree with a lot of what he had to say. I wish I could have sat down shook his hand and had dinner with this guy. He reminds me of a good friend I had in college. He was a devout Christian, and I am a reformed Jew. He was my brother from another mother.
Eb and Mr. Haney were the brightest sidekicks ever for any show. So good to hear Tom say what is lacking ,even now more so, in entertainment, as we have slid down that pole for the last time I think.
I love Green Acres, the Best sitcom ever made, definitely the zaniest.Patt Buttram was my third cousin on my Mother's side of the family. I never knew that for years.
Tom Lester said they can't show Amos and Andy anymore, and I could care less, because I have all their episodes on DVD's and watch them over and over, let's see if anybody can stop me from watching one of the funniest, greatest, most talented cast members that was ever assembled for TV.
I have an interesting connection with the actor who played Eb on Green Acres. I grew up in El Paso, Texas, and my parents had a couple who were friends of theirs who owned a little Christian bookstore. They were friends with Tom Lester, who played the character on the sitcom. He came to town for a visit, and because they were busy, they asked if I could hang around with him for the day and keep him entertained. I was all of 12 or 13 years old at the time! Anyway, I spent the day with Tom and found him to be a very kind, warm and down-to-earth guy. I mean, he was willing to hang around all day with a kid, right? It's a day I'll never forget.
This was 1997. Look how far down the sewer the world is today including the US for which Tom Lester was speaking about! No wonder it is all a mess. Thank you for this video!
AMEN AMEN AMEN!!!!! PREACH IT!! I’d Love to have the leopard couch they used in this comedy it’s so iconic. I love this show. I wasn’t born yet when this came out but I watched it every day as a toddler.❤️❤️
I am truly thankful that you got the chance to see a sample of what QUALITY family comedy television really looked like! The Jack Benny program is another of my favorite comedies. Those were the best of times for laughs.👍
Tom Lester seemed like such a nice man. His acting as Eb on Green Acres was wonderful... such a funny, entertaining show with so many memorable characters. His "rant" was great and his views about this country are absolutely 100% correct.
Yes what Tom said is the truth....about all those wholesum family shows. They were funnier than the smut crap they show today.I still watch Green Acres as much as i can.Out of the three shows.... it IS the best. And for generations to come.
Wow! Everything he said in that interview almost 25 years ago is even more pluralistic than ever today. One of God's servants if ever there was. It's sad to think how much has changed in such a short time and what lies ahead for the world. Now I know why I've been following Green Acres so much on You Tube!
Boy do I ever admire Mr. Lester for his Christian-Judeo values--he's absolutely right about everything he said in this interview about the decline of morals/removing prayer from schools etc etc
Amen brother Tom, preach it son. I know that Tom Lester is gone from this earth now, but I also know we will see him again some day. Tom, I will see you in the Rapture 🙋💞🙏🥰😇✝️✡️
@@northvilletunnels Look you don't believe that is fine, I'm an atheist as well but why pee on another man's dream? Yes, I know some of them are cruel bullies and insulting, be the bigger man and bid them well.
@@dougcasey6117 Screw that. I only gave my view. It's nonsense like he was spewing that makes me happy there is no heaven. His dream is toxic as well. I seriously doubt you are an athiest based on you claim of me pissing on his dream. He already knows there is no heaven.
