Jimmy Johnson was so frustrated and discouraged after this game - I think in hindsight this was where he knew it wasn't going to work out for him in Miami. Marino couldn't carry a team anymore and his roster was too young and inexperienced for them to develop into a championship team while Marino could still play.
If JJ wasn't so stubborn and let Marino run the offense without trading away his best receivers, they wouldve had a shot. The problem was JJ ran the ball like he had Emmitt Smith still and took away Dan's ability to audibilize
@@gregtrust5599 JJ didn't believe in Marino as a QB at that stage so he thought it was best to not rely on him and try and take the pressure off him by making him more of a game-manager type. But that wasn't in Marino's nature to do. Another way that JJ and Marino were just a bad mix.
@@walterlv01 can't be a game manager when your running backs and receivers are bums. If he just focused on defense it might have worked out. Dan knew the offense better than anybody and he did everything JJ asked from him even though it wasn't working
You can call Pete Carroll a one hit wonder in Seattle but he got a ring when it counts because you will never know if you can get a chance in a Super Bowl as I say one ring is better then no rings
@@STMARTIN009 false. Pats had the ball for 40 minutes while racking up 255 yards on 60 carries. Marino got the ball for only 20 minutes and threw 2 touchdowns and 2 picks. One was intercepted on a deflection from his receiver and the other one came when the dolphins were down big and Marino had to take greater risks. The pats were good that season, they beat the dolphins twice that year because they had a way better defense and run game
@@gregtrust5599 not really cheating if you were a former member of the team. If anything get a different game plan and change the audibles. That's a lack of game plan and preparation.
