Thanks so much for giving us this memory. The MIchigan - Penn State game of November 1997 is one of the best games in Michigan's proud history. Oh, and even here in Ann Arbor, no one believed my prediction of 35-7 for Michigan. Of course, everyone saw only PSU at #3 and Michigan at #4 - they never noticed PSU had the 59th ranked defense. ;-)

PSU had a good offense but that 97 Michigan defense is about the nastiest college-level defense I’ve ever seen. Bama in recent years has been close but they just don’t get after it the way this team did.

omg did i love this team....still get a laugh at ennis' celebration on the TD...i mean, it WAS the first time this team allowed pts in the 4th quarter...but c'mon guy...the score is 34-6....

This Game and the 2008 Capital One Bowl are my two favorite michigan games, 03, 06 and 07 Notre Dame games are good also.

@Poole1Dan Good call. Nebraska only played 4 ranked teams that year, all of whom (other than Tennessee) were in a piss-poor conference, so those wins were largely against teams with losing records...

By the way, thanks for having footage of Penn State's touchdown. This is the only highlight video so far that has the Curtis Enis 8 point touchdown on it and a balanced representation of the game.

My favorite Michigan game that I was able to witness (on TV). I was too young to see Michigan beat OSU in 1969. Thanks for the memories! Go Blue!

Lol, this was televised assault. You guys killed us in this one, much respect. Michigan would have taken Nebraska by a touchdown in 1997, definitely the best team in the country. Why did ya'll have to break my heart in 2005, though?? Hope you guys get back to form, it'll happen soon!

Mike Morris That's because PSU was too busy getting screwed by the refs

They played pretty much a perfect game. And Penn State played a very imperfect game.

What's really amazing is that this Penn State team was the Big Ten #2 that year, tied with Ohio State.

Why in the world was Enis celebrating? I can't wait for Michigan to get back to this type of football, where you see really good Linebackers, and All-World O-Linemen. Man Hoke is going to be a great coach, and the Wolverines are on their way back to glory.

If you look at the common games between Colorado and baylor which both teams played Michigan blew both of them out where as with nebraska it was just a simple win

Just a small reflection - 1997 was the last year before the first BCS Championship was established between Tennessee v FSU. Nebraska fans and Scott Frost can brag all they want - I truly believe this until the day I die, if there were a BCS Championship, Michigan will BEAT Nebraska for two reasons - they are more motivated and Nebraska defense CANNOT contain Michigan offense line. Not to mention the nation's best defense in the last 25 years (at the time in 1997 of course). GO BLUE!!!

This was such a fun team to watch. They just beat up other teams with complementary football in all three phases. I thought Penn State was expecting to beat Michigan with their offensive talent, which was considerable, and instead they got dong-punched hard in the first quarter and never recovered. The Taylor/Stephenson collision definitely sucked some of their energy away offensively; they were playing like they were shook thereafter.
