Good Mowers before they went over to China for production. I just picked up a 1994 16/46 mower (believe first year they did the hydrostatic transmission). Still runs good, just doing a cleaning of the mower and engine (air-cooled fins had dirt/grass in them), tune-up, new fuel lines, new carb, and re-greasing the fittings before I start mowing, but it runs fine.
I did my first job cutting grass on a similar Murray. 14 hp opposed twin, same deck, 6 speed transaxle. This one had a way more squared off front end, though. It was a good tractor. Then, dad bought an '84 or '85 Deere 165 hydro and gave me his MTD.
Hello, I just purchased a murray lawn mower that is identical to yours except mine has much taller rear tires. I am in desperate need of a new hood. Actually all i need is the black grill part. Do you have any idea where to get one of these hoods? Any help would be much appreciated.
Please help.. I purchased a murray. 18hp with what i believe is a 46" deck (tractor is similar to yours in style) the deck that was not mounted (deck has 3 blades) it is missing all of the deck mounting hardware, and linkages, which I am having trouble figuring out and finding.. as the previous owner repainted over everything including model number, serial numbers decals etc. Could you possibly share your actual model number, and possibly do a video showing how your deck is mounted, so I can figure out what I am missing? Please and Thank-you!
You don't seem to know much about Murray mowers so I'll help you. they are industrial commercial engines because they have cast iron engines for longer life. the deck on that mower is 16 gauge steel. grease fittings on the deck and front end. I have one like this one and a 1992 that run like new. as with anything if you don't take care of it will not last.
Mr. Fatty is there a possibility you could show us how your deck mounts? I just purchased one with the deck mounts(hangers) and linkages missing, I would love to see what i am missing?
