1997 NBA Finals Jazz vs. Bulls Game 6 (part 11)

It seems most people prefer the 1993 Suns/Bulls final to the 1997 one, but I have to respectfully disagree. The 1997 classic between the Jazz and the Bulls was full of high drama. You had Michael Jordan's game-winner in Game 1, John Stockton's steal and pass in Game 4, the flu game in Game 5 and Steve Kerr's shot in Game 6. You had the league's MVP playing against the game's greatest player. You had close games. You had two teams that would never again be as good. They did meet again in 1998, but that wasn't nearly as much of a series.
This is Game 6, and oops, I kind of gave away the ending. Enjoy.

If you were old enough to appreciate this, you were very lucky!!!. I was 12 years old in 97 and remember it like it was yesterday. Damn basketball was so awesome back then. I did think to my self, how many Lebron haters would have said, " there was .6 seconds remaining, way to give Lebron another Championship"

In the 90's no one else could play like Jordan. In the NBA today, there's much more talent. Point guards can dunk like crazy and do Jordan like moves. During MJ's era no one other than him could do what he did. Kobe has been hands down the best player in our generation. Like Lebron James, MJ was a natural born athlete. Kobe isn't, he day to work hard to be the best! In a league that has much more talent than ever before. Kobe has found away to outshine everyone else.

Watching this Pippen's end-of-game steal just now reminds me of the Ariza's steal against Denver that sealed the W.Conference game last year. It's also funny to see how the ref couldnt call for playing out the 0.6 sec left cuz things were out of control on the court then.

Besides myself loving the first Bulls three-peat team better, I also believe the 1993 Finals stack up well against this '97 series, save the first two games in Phoenix..Game 3 was the historic triple-OT thriller..Game 4 came down to the finals seconds, where MJ put up the 55 point performance..and, of course..Game 6 with John Paxson clinching the 3-peat..so, I myself choose 1993 Bulls/Suns..

actually the bulls had a very tight game with the suns in game 4 and were saved by a classic 55 point explosion from michael. then they got blown out in game 5. and don't forget the epic triple overtime in game 3. 1997 finals were awesome, but the 1993 finals were the best ever.

Proof to everyone that Kobe Bryant will NEVER and I mean NEVER be able to lace and walk in Michael Air Jordans Shoes. A Double team by Stockton and Russell and a pass to Kerr who was ready and burried the jumper and Utah in 97. I was a soph in high school and remember this moment like it was yesterday!!! And i'm still a Bulls Fan. Can you say Derrick Rose!!!
@triplehbk99
@triplehbk99 14 лет назад
@kymzon there's no kick actually. MJ did is like a fade away pass to kerr and john stockton's reaction to that play was kinda a second late so it seems a liitle kick from MJ. but no, it was a clean play

That should have been goaltending on Pippen.Him grabbing the rim and causing the backboard to shake definetly affected the shot by Anderson.Had that been Jordan going for the reverse and Russel grabbing the rim, they would've called goaltending and a foul on Russel lol.The Bulls were great, but the refs always favored them during that era

What makes the Bulls Dynasty the best is there overpowering Defense and they Had Michael Jordan and the Greatest Coach of all time Phil Jackson. My opinion is not a single other Team in history except the Dream team could have beaten the bulls Dynasty teams.
@triplehbk99

it is so hard to tell. i am a big chicago bull fan, and i know pippen made a mistake by touching the ring there. but i think that's not a goaltend. he touches the ring BEFORE anderson take the shot. so just like you block some one before he take the shot.
@AkshunAffirmative
@AkshunAffirmative 14 лет назад
lol @ 3:42...they Jerry Sloan fistpump! (new dance)
@triplehbk99
@triplehbk99 14 лет назад
but look, the whole backboard slightly moved. although pippen didn't had the intention to touch the ring just to make anderson missed the shot, the meer fact is that pippen touched the ring. and it is an automatic goaltending violation.

Thank God for Scottie Pippen. If it wasn't for that steal, I had a terrible fear that Utah would have gotten lucky somehow. But... Not to be. Scottie Pippen was the only guy that could stop Michael Jordan, and the Bulls had Pippen too. Therefore, Jordan could not be stopped.

I'm probably older than you are, but thats not the issue. When the bulls played the suns there they blew them out 3 out of the 4 games that they won .What's so exciting about that? The first jazz series it was very close game 1 was won by a buzzer beater by jordan -- it took a heroic performance by jordan to win the pivotal game 5 of that series and game six came down to the wire so clearly this was the best series in the finals with the bulls.

@TheDemoGameplayVault he is a star in his own right. but let's admit it, Bulls of the 9'90'2 are Jordan's and Pippen's team. maybe rodman's included. what i mean is superstar, not just a star. 10 Chicago players are just role players.

The suns were not really that close they just made it look better stat wise after the game was pretty much decided and you never really thought the suns were going to beat the bulls but when the jazz evened up the series at 2-2 and then took a 16 point lead in game 5 with Jordan being sick you everybody knew that the bulls were in serious trouble and thats when Jordan had that great performance down the stretch of that game and also the game 1 shot by Mj and the great finish of game 6

The suns series was always overrated because of Pasxon's series winning 3 pointer, if it werent for that nobody would remember that series that much. The bulls were a triple overtime game away from sweeping the suns , so how could that have been their best finals series?

3 out of 4 wins were blowouts? Games 4 and 6 were went down to the wire, and even the first two wins in Phoenix were competitive well into the 4th quarter. NONE of the games were blowouts, for either side. This series had two (games 2 and 3).

im a jordan fan but i do feel the jazz were cheated out of this one hence pippens uncalled goaltending and then they erase 0.6 sec of the clock which still left them with a 4pt- play possibility

BloodyandEnchained ITS NOT A GOALTEND DUMMY!! IF THE REF UNDERSTANDS THT THE SOT WOULD OF NEVER WENT IN ITS NOT GOALTENDING..THT SHOT WASNT GOING IN IF PIPPEN DIDNT TOUCH THE RIM..AND U MUST BE ON DRUGS...DOWN 4 WITH .6 THTS CATCH AND SHOOT, U THINK THE BULLS WOULD EVEN PLY D? THEY WOULDA LET EM SHOOT A 3 THEN CLOCK RUNS OUT..STOP MAKIN EXCUSES

dribblezthagod if they would have counted pippens goaltend they would have been down by less then 4 pts, but anyways,bulls still would have beat them in game 7, and you sound like a mad jordan fan who oversaw the fact that i said that i am a jordan/bulls fan from this era

@cbaldwinjr Jordan's era.. refs let rough play to continue, wont call everything and let the game dictates itself.. Today's era.. refs control the game, calls pussy fouls and gives everyone technical fouls.. Dont judge Jordan coz rules and refs today are not da same as it used to be.. and don't be hating coz your favorite player doesn't get da same respect as the Greatest Of All Time..

Only Kobe, Lebron, DWade, and D-ROse are the only ones who can come close to MJ-like moves. Back then you had MJ;s teammate Pippen, Barkley, Payton, Tim and Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Kevin Johnson, Kemp was like MJ athletcisim in a Power Forward Body, Sprewell, and of course Hakeem Olajuwon was like Mj in a Center body skill and athleticism-wise.
