Even after you are done installing i can still see where you modified the opening on top with a file. Isn't there some kind of adaptor kit to hide that?

Great video! I installed a pioneer Avh2500 in a 2004 F250. Bluetooth menu is hidden until the green park brake wire is connected. On a 2004 there are two wires on the park brake switch. Red and green with red stripe. It’s the green wire with red stripe that’s needed if you don’t use a bypass.

Also the head unit had two plugs in the back of the stock one. The second plug didn't need to be plugged back into the stock unit to make the lights work again.

How would I take this head unit back out?

Hoping to find a video showing inserting or removing the new radio. I have an old (now) Pioneer X920BT installed aftermarket in my 2004 F250, but after about 8yrs it is now fried and needs to be replaced - or I'm right and the antenna wire is simply disconnected. Is it just held by friction so I should be able to simply pry it out? Coincidentally, the day I took it to a stereo installer to see if they could troubleshoot it I noticed it was sitting askew, angled towards the passenger. Figuring I wouldn't be likely to break it worse than it already was (no reception of radio and XM module's volume so low the unit's volume has to be maxed to hear (working) XM even with engine off) I used my thumb to shove it back flush with the dash - so maybe I can simply pry it out to see if the antenna cable is still connected and/or if the fuse in back is blown. What started all this was my alternator went out, and during all the charging and dead batteries until the alternator was replaced the radio crapped out. Still streams bluetooth from my phone fine, so that is the only music I've had recently. It's nav functions work fine too. It's so old though I'm tempted to replace it with a newer model that'd have carplay. I'd love to install a front facing camera as a 2nd camera, too. I'm considering the Pioneer 8200 or Kenwood 9904s, but before I buy I want to see if the x920BT just needs to be reinstalled or have it's fuse replaced.

There was a post about a year ago that asked if the Pioneer unit you installed would work with the factory 6 Disc CD changer. Same question I have. The factory unit he took out was a 6 Disc CD changer. Since you had a install kit that mated to the factory harness it would seem like it would work with the new Pioneer unit. But every place I check including Crutchfield says that there is no aftermarket unit that will work with the 6 Disc CD changer.

Where did you run your USB extension cable to? Did you have it coming out down below?

I was really hoping this was going to be an INSTALL video. You showed wires put together. Everyone knows how to do that. You showed a file and that two areas need to be filed down, but you never showed anything about what holds the new stereo head into the dash.. You said two screws had to be removed, but is this going to end up being a rattling issue?? I'd say this is not really an install video, but more of a sales pitch for you. Also, I don't see even one question answered below in comments.... smh...

There's no better alternative they could supply that would support removal of the radio, without tearing out the dashboard, after you put it in ?

What knowledge do you have on swapping steering wheels? Specifically, I have have an 02 f350 SD. It doesn't have steering wheel radio controls, but I would like it to. I've seen Excursions that have those steering wheel controls. What is it I need to do to make them work properly? New clock spring with a new steering wheel?

Is there something you use to fill in at the top so the filed edges don't look so bush league? I'm sure this wasn't the finished product, if it was and I paid for it, I'd be choked.

I had stupid question. If parking brake wire. Couldn't u just ground it out on any ground area or a ground wire???

Can you do a more in dept video on installing the parking break wire correctly? I can only find videos on bypassing it.

Hey I can't seem to get my camera to work I used the pink wire that came on the harness for the radio ran a,wire from the reverse line black an purple an yet I don't have the camera or screen engaged. What I did get was my truck going back an forth to reverse an radio as I'm driving I have no clue what happened

Have a 2002 ford excursion. Just put in my new head unit and my cluster and thermostat lights no longer work. But if i plug the wire back into the stock head unit it works. So obviously a wrong wire but the head unit and speakers are working fine and i matched wires correctly. I've installed many head units and never had this problem... Any ideas? Is the "illumination" wire off the head unit for dash illumination or head unit illumination?

I'm using this same install kit to put a Pioneer 490BS into my '04 F-250. I would like to add the AVIC U280 GPS/Navigation module and back-up camera later this summer. My question is how will I remove the Pioneer radio from the dash once it snaps into place? Will I be able to remove the dash bezel surround or will the mount be in the way? thanks for the helpful video, I see that the dash bezel needs to be removed to remove the radio in the future, so to state the obvious does that mean I leave out the two screws above the radio opening when I install the new radio?

Mark Nichols Thanks for all the great videos. I am about to start on a radio upgrade on my 2001 Ford Excursion XLT and have watched your related videos. However, the recommended Metra 70-1771 harness has only a single 16 pin plug. The 2001 excursion has a second plug and wiring harness which plugs into a port on the back of the factory radio identified as an amp but actually runs to the back of a center console rear speaker controller. I believe if this is not connected, the rear 4 speakers will not function. Please advise as to a solution and/or can you identify the correct Metra harness. I have looked at their website but they identify only the 70-1771 part number.

I like the set up of the pioneer but I read that its compatible with the iOSsoftware only. Any suggestions on a similar model with GPS display that is compatible with Android.. that will fit in the f350 2004 dash ?

This adapter is super dumb, why does it have to be so sunk in and why should we have to modify the lip, theres enough room to leave it

I'm trying to install a Pioneer AVH1300NEX in a 2001 Ford chassis RV. If you note in this video when the old stereo is removed, there is a bracket on the back of the stereo that slides on a bottom rail that is part of the vehicle, almost like a drawer slide. The Pioneer stereo does not appear to accomodate that bracket, so my question is, how is the rear of the stereo supported? Is there a dash kit with a sleeve available that would slide on this rail?

What are the biggest speakers you can fit in the front doors without having to cut anything.

Hey I have a question for you? I have an 03 ford excursion. And an avh-2440 it says hd radio but doesn’t pick up stations, my previous radio that is also a double din DVD player works just fine for radio. Though I use my phone a lot. I would like to have the radio working. I pick up absolutely nothing I’m in ogden UTAH and there are plenty of hd stations. Any tips? I am lost and no forums have the answer. The harness is the exact same as this video and I do not have a power antenna neither does this harness. I just don’t know what to do.
