I know Im randomly asking but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost my password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Kyrie Kristian Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I got my 05 town car from copart for $500. Only had 98,500 miles and 2 owners. Pristine condition other than the fender bender that somehow got it totaled. It literally only needed a fender bumper cover and bumper reinforcement. It could use a new hood but definitely does nothing to the driveability. I'm so blessed to have gotten this car for $500.
Great video, great channel. Walk up to the Town Car, walk around it, are the tire valve stem caps missing tag bolts missing, open the door, smell new or trash, owner's manual still in the glove box and the door keypad code card, 1 key-2 keys or 3 keys. the Best cars will still have all 3 keys, spare tire never used, all booklets, tag bolts, valve stem caps. Open the hood and look for coolant leaks all around the intake and look at the under intake heater pipe for severe rust on the pipe behind the alternator in the engine valley, 1991-1997 the under intake heater pipe has a rubber hose section right behind the water pump-this hose will burst with old age just like a 28 year old radiator hose. 98+ solid metal. Coolant full? Premium battery? 4 matching tires? pull the oil fill cap off and look down onto the head for oil sludge. a clean head top means great care. nasty varnished and sludged, walk away now. look for cut wire and aftermarket stuff under the hood. reach down with you hand and rub the bottom side of the AC accumulator(salt states) and AC compressor- look for green oil on your fingers. These compressors are usually robust for 250,000 miles or so. walk to the rear axle- look for axle oil leaks in the wheel windows or on the back side of the tires, look to see if the car still have air ride or a coil spring conversion kit. start the car- listen for 1-3 seconds of loud start up clatter- this would mean the car will need a timing set soon, especially if it is pushing 200,000 miles. factory radio still or aftermarket? driver's seat still moves correctly on wooden steering wheel cars- easy exit feature kills these seat tracks in time. run the self test on the HVAC- start the car- hit off and floor at the same time- let up off the off and floor button at the same time for 1 second and then hit "Auto". HVAC fault codes will appear after 30 seconds- no codes- the whole screen lights up- hit windshield defrost to exit. put the car in gear and go- transmission shifts smoothly, roaring or grinding from the rear axle? the adjustable pedals should move 5-6 inches- if they only move 1/4th and inch, its because the plastic gear splits on the brake pedal side and the drive cable jams. the brake and gas pedal move off one motor that's by the gas pedal and you can disconnect the drive cable and the gas pedal will be free to move. you can then manually move the brake pedal. most of these are stuck all the way up- close to the seat bc of elderly previous owners that were very short. items to consider replacing soon. timing set on the 1999-00 01+, the older ones have a far more robust timing set with metal tensioners and metal spines on the chain guides. engine oil consumption can be a huge issue on the 4.6, especially 1991-1997, 1 quart every 500 miles is not unusual. replace valve stem seals. replace the oil filter adapter gasket every 12-18 years with at least 100,000 miles. rear air suspension air bladders every 12-18 years EATC blend door actuator(s) every 12-19 years. 1990-2002 has one motorized blend door actuator and it does hot to cold. 2003+ has 5 blend door actuators that do all functions-no more vacuum motors in the dash on 03+ for climate. sagging door hinges. loosen the top 3 hinge to body bolts and tap the entire door hinge forward towards the front of the car like 1/20th an inch at a time, get it perfect and tighten the 3 bolts back. missing door code, 2002 and older still have the code in the trunk on the trunk hinge, some 03's do, a few 04s do. 2005 and older still have the door code on the drivers door module inside the driver's door behind the door panel. 2006+ deleted the code- electronic retrieval is your only option if the key code card is lost.
@freddyhollingsworth5945 - Ohhhh Wow !! Did you leave anything out, per chance?!? If the Lincoln TownCar I am looking at is the right color, right price, decent mileage, was part of an estate sale ... driven by a caring elder ... SOLD!!
Last summer bought me a 2000 Lincoln town car 91k miles, elder owned, body and interior perfect, garage kept. settled at $1200. So far ive replaced and fixed everything you mentioned. Air bag to spring conversion, all coils and plugs, intake manifold, thermostat and coolant flush, tierods, balljoints, sway links, pitman and idler arms. Didnt have to replace the exhaust manifolds yet. All I owned was crown vics, and marquis so I knew what I was getting into. Even with low miles these can develop these issues but I still say its worth if for these cars if you know your way around them and if you get them cheap enough. They are very strong cars and very good for longevity. Mine came a long way and I love it.
Of course you put repairs in to a Town Car steal at $1200 !! Hopefully, you did not go through an A to Z laundry list of "watch out for's" as per freddy hollingsworth above !!
Each time I watch Vitaliy or your videos, it reminds me of how lucky I am to be living in the Phoenix desert. My 2004 Grand Marquis LS that spent its whole life here is completely rust free and no corrosion on the wheels. I see what they mean when they say IL is in the Rust Belt.
it's true, mine isn't really rusted though like most here and neither is his you get some rust but nothing to concerning, your lucky to have one from there that clean
Got my '02 Cartier for 3500 6 years ago, now has 180k and runs like new still, I did put on a new intake manifold, also new shocks, not hard to do. Best car we EVER owned, last car we'll ever need to buy, comfort, ride, quality, all SS exhaust and more. A real frame, not this unibody junk that rots out from under, yep, the last quality automobile made in America, now becoming a collector ... grab one while you can.
Very nice. 98-02 need to check where the passenger LCA attaches. Has to be repaired by a certified welder if rotted out. Very common. The A/C drier keeps it wet (that can rust out and leak too).
When you talk about the leaks at 1:15...you pointed to exactly where a lil smoke is coming from when my car heats up. It is coming from under the hood behind the steering wheel. I have no engine light on and no oil leaking but I kept wondering why a little smoke coming from that exact area. Thank you!
I can't believe how nice my town car seats are. The leather seats from a crown vic will go in a grand Marquis with cloth seats and vice versa but not between town cars and crown Vic/Grand Marquis
I just adopted my mother-in-law's 2004 Ultimate. Garage kept with 36,000 original miles. Other than a couple rusted out catalytic converters, rear pads and rotors and a busted caliper, it seems to be in good working order. We did discover the leaking issue (after taking it out of the garage), but I think I've got that resolved. Other than that, this thing is almost mint. I have been enjoying your videos and now share your affinity for this sweet ride. Any other tips you have for a car that's done a lot more sitting than driving, are much appreciated.
Just bought a 03 TC Signature w 43k, garage kept, in showroom condition. I’m real happy and 22-26 mpg fuel read out. This is my first car in a long time and will be the companion to my 97 Ford F 250 7.3
If you don't want to deal with the air system on these, coil spring mods are easy and cheap. I had an '02 with the same story; little old lady died, had the car since new, Bought it from her kids for $2k with 46k miles on it in 2016. First car I bought out of the military. Loved it, it was a rock.
can't believe YT never recommended this video until just now. It's funny hearing those old prices... I'm seeing Town Cars near me listed for well over $10k
You speak with authoritative knowledge. I would humbly add that high mileage is not a turnoff if the vehicle were kept well and the previous owner(s) had already remedied the common known faults of the platform. Gotta know what to look for. I'm concerned with frame rot on these older classics from the snowy States that use road salts in the winter. On the northern Panthers also the steering shaft corrosion/failure between the firewall and the rack & pinion.
@@FordBossMe Tough to inspect for unless you can get it on a lift or go down on the floor under and see the condition. Fuel tank rot is sometimes given away by gas fumes odor especially if indoors.
It's funny this video came up in my feed. I have been thinking about the possibility of getting a Town Car of that generation. I have a 1997 that I got free in 2010. It was owned by a 90 year old who had stopped driving, At the time it had about 66k or 67k miles on it. Now it's over 150k. The last time I drove it, it had run out of power steering fluid. The check engine light has been on for years now, and my mechanic says a bad catalytic converted triggered that. For many years it has had an intermittent problem with not starting, even though it would crank over just fine. In the Lincoln owner Facebook groups, I was told by many people that it's most likely a bad crank sensor. Unfortunately a year ago the problem got worse, and it was no longer intermittent. I love the car though, which is why I thought about the possibility of getting a Lincoln from the next generation, like yours, or getting that one fixed, or getting another like mine.
funny story my dealer wanted 3600$+ tax for both oem headlights with bulbs on my 11 towncar.. I found the ones you have on for 400cad and got those, love them !
Can't believe I just found this video after seeing the post from Panzer Platform! She is gorgeous! I was a poor college student when I got my crown vic and it was from a guy that neglected it. No fluid was changed on time, and it could only go up to 55 safely... Just thankful I know how to fix cars and slowly did the repairs needed when I got funds for the parts... It burns 1 quart at 7000 miles oci (I know I know, I'll bring it lower after watching your rants on that hahaha) and I'm kinda sad about it. But man, can't help but say that I'm blessed to have this car. I hope to keep it running till 300k if I could do it affordably.
The passenger side manifold on my 2011 Ford Expedition needed to get done due to 2 broken studs. Had to be restuded and took the shop 2 days at a cost of $800. I paid $90 for the manifold and $20 for the studs and nuts. The last one lasted 4 years. Hopefully this one last longer..
I let the dealership do my intake. I already had the intake a dorman but for some reason it wouldn't seal right. They had to put two gaskets in (E6AZ9D476B and E83Z9F670A) after the gaskets were installed and the surface was cleaned for installing them my fuel trim numbers came down drastically. I occasionally check my fuel trim numbers using an actron obd scanner. By using this I could tell if the check engine light was going to come back on for a P0171 code.
What I would like to see in a future video: how to retrofit factory fog lamps into a 2003 to 2011 not originally equipped. I know the headlight switch needs to be replaced, and I suspect (but don’t know for a fact) that most of the wiring is already in place. I’ve seen that before, where the factory uses just one main wire harness and the plugs in the sub harnesses as needed for factory options
Factory fogs are very dim and expensive. I replaced my factory with LEDs, aimed them level and they are brighter and better than the hi beams, nobody flashes highs at me and way less expensive! Get them and put a toggle switch. I cant use mine with the high beams.
Hi Ford Boss from Bellflower, CA ,,,, thanks for sharing your experiences with ford cars,,, I want a black on black towncar LS extended back,,,, some time this year,,, I have a 99 crown vic with 134k on ODO and have some questions if you don't mind,,, what is the high voltage that should be coming out of the coils (cop)? can I disconnect an injector to save on gas? what should be the reading of the maf sensor and injector/tion time reading on the scanner? thanks for taking the time.
I have a little old lady friend, who owned Midas muffler shops. I'm about to buy her 2008 Town Car, 53,300 MI. She just had the rear airbags done about a year or so ago. It's been garage kept all this time. I'm paying her $8,000, so I will plan to drive it for a few years. It's at all the maintenance done by the book. It doesn't have any problems at this point. I'll take it on a few Long Highway trips and then the leaks will start, I suppose. What do you think about it?
I. Own several of these. Avoid the 2003 year like the plague. They have horrible issues with rear axles that were not hardened properly. Fleet cars were recalled, private vehicles only got tsb. If the floor is wet on the passenger side don't worry, it is an easy fix that cost under $20 and only takes 30 minutes. The cars here in the South don't rust. The only other issues are air ride bags that leak, and look out for cracks in the plastic intake if the millage is high or the car is 2003 or prior. Last join Lincoln forums online. There you find answers to just about any question you have.
also the leak you speak of most DON'T even completly understand where it originates from they just know how to stop it by covering something else up many people from the Lincoln forums come to me because I've done the homework and ripped these cars apart from front to back and there is actually more than one main are to get that leak and several reasons the floor would be wet I like to say I'm a little bit better informed than most Lincoln forums due to the fact I not only have the experience but a several hundred book library on all this stuff at work I don't mind Lincoln forums they are great but alot of those guys email me for documents diagrams and fixes that don't work that are recommended there last week dude was talking about his 2009 P71 and how much he's been replacing to get to the bottom of an egr problem and I simply walked him through finding the wire that grounds out on the back of the intake manifold area in probably 20min of talking to him....problem fixed it's my profession and I love these cars and helping people I try and keep the retention of questions here if possible instead of a forum but I do see the benefit in them as well for sure.
I have a 2001 towncar I just replaced the intake on. It rode good for a day then started shaking and idling rough, not wanting to accelerate & smoke out of vents on highway yesterday. Had a diagnostic test done yesterday and it said I had a misfire on a cylinder ( changed plugs and coil) and had a old egr valve code come up. Changed egr valve after I reset everything and it came back up and now I got a code p0141 for o2 sensor. . I'm thinking of just cutting my cats cause its been alot of heat coming from underneath (my floors are even getting hot) .
I just talked to my tool guy on Friday and he said that because so many people are interested and they're willing to pay more than what he's asking he's going to tell his wife she needs to take care of the issue with the title now
I bought my 04 ultimate limited with 248k miles on it 2 years ago for 700 bucks. I have only had to spend about 300 in parts. Great cars and dependable
All the problems that you mentioned above Lincoln fix them from 2008 to 2011 all those problems were pretty much an older model. They did not fix the coils or the Catalyst converter. They still go bad on all models.
Intake manifold on the 4.6 are notorious for leaking. Air ride system will eventually go but easy transfer to qualify shocks. There was other minor problems on these cars and well worth fixing. Nothing rides like an Lincoln of the 90s to 2011
I’ve been looking at these for a while now since I’m in the market for a nice comfy daily that won’t shit the bed easily. Thanks for the video my man, very informative. I just think It’ll look weird being 20 and driving a town car lmao. But comfort and reliability beats all in my books (:
@@FordBossMe noice noice, I think for my future one ima a whole new sound system in with a 18 in the trunk. The tints ain’t a bad idea, maybe I’ll do a light one so I can see at night (:
Just bought a 2000 Lincoln town car signature for 2500 with 90k original miles on it garage kept with some rust but not more for 23 year in Pennsylvania..
Like he said the front part was made aluminum, but the rest is still plastic, I love ford and I’m a ford guy through and through but those plastic manifolds suck, they last a while but it’s the worst part of the engine, rest of those engines are bulletproof
Good video there a 2001 town car on craigs 125k its one owner was listed at 3000 down to 2500 owner says runs great everything works no engine light on clean in and out no rust pics look good been for sale 3 weeks have not called him car is about 35 miles away but with your video have a good idea what to ask him someone said ball joints go bad in these cars is that right i am thinking around 2000 to 2200 if you have anymore tips would be great thanks !!!
Looking at a 89 with 98,000 miles. Has a leak on passenger side not from coil pack but say it's from sun roof drain being stopped up. Other than that its in HooD shape other than paint. If the leak is from what you described in the video would just be a good purchase?
great video,.. Kind of interested in one of these. I don't really need that large of a car. Are you better off to find a Mercury Grand Marquis or crown Vic possibly. Do they suffer some of the same issues engine wise?
I just bought a 2006 signature for 3k canadian. Has 153k kms some minor rust on the rear fenders. Same scenario. Old man owned it passed away so it was an estate thing. Can't find a car that cheap in this market. Only issue it had was the bags wouldn't fill up. Just swapped them our for springs and shocks to bypass that issue.
How common are the sparkplugs being shot out and is there anyway to avoid this? I have never owned one, but thinking about it or staying with something like a Park Avenue that I'm more familiar with the overall issues and cost - but for some reason these seem to sell for more despite being older? 2005 vs 2011.
My neighbor just passed away and took phenomenal care of a 1998 and it looks brand new still. I’m gonna check it out tomorrow but it does have 240,000 miles on it. If everything is fine with it what price do you think I should get it for or if I shouldn’t since of the higher miles?
@@FordBossMe Thank you, they’re selling it for $2,900 and possibly down to $2,500. I tried looking it up but didn’t get straight answer, do you know if it’s good with snowy winter or not since I live in Michigan.
I don't work on cars but Im looking at a 2007 with 37,000 miles on it in Fla. Listed for 12,500. Seems high but times have changed and its very low mileage. Carfax says its worth 13k and it has a clean history.
Thanks just bought 2005 lincoln town car executive L for $1500/75000 miles spending another $1300.00 that includes all four struts/shocks two front headlights upper and lower control arms for both side sway bar ball joints driver side mirror all four bearings fixing it myself do you think this will sell it for good price?
Not sure if you’ll see this in time but I’m looking at a 2004 signature today. 230k miles, regular oil changes and intake manifold was replaced in 2014 at 180k. Elderly owner. They want $3200. Not sure if that’s good in this market but I’m doing a test drive today. Cosmetically and interior was really taken care of. Let me know what you think if you see this quickly haha
@@FordBossMe it needs new tires, brakes could use changing and it had some wobbling around 55-60 mph , steering wheel whobbling too. The floor behind the front passenger seat was soaking wet. Is this the cowl leak you think? Maybe I can talk them down to 2000-2500?
Intake manifolds are a joke. Anyone can replace that. Thank God they made them this way. Get a beautiful car for a steal because it needs a repair that the dealership charges a fortune for.
Where is 1A Auto located? I need a driver's door module for a 2007 Towncar Signature Limited or Designer. If you are aware of some companies that may be able to help me, that would be great.
Free, Especially when I realized every one of these politicians are dirt bags and I gave up on all them Especially this psycho we have now, I'm done with all of them completely
I'm looking at a 04 Town Car with 80k miles on it right now, guy wants to sell it for 5k. This was a helpful video, my takeaway was not to try to haggle the guy down because if the car is that cherry just pay the price tag and go. Would you say that's correct?
interior: door handle straps go bad extremely common. the buttons that hides the screens crack and fall off. the handle frames crack and fall apart. passenger side leak. radio goes bad.
Just bought a 2000 Cartier for $4100 with 86K miles on it. Had to spend about $1000 reparing front door locks (detatched actuator) and windshield wiper motor. Now headlights don't work (bad LCM?) and Lincoln dealer says I will need to spend about another $1000 to get inspected. (Bought directly from owner, not a dealer.) Air bag light indicator showing on dash. Still think in long run its worth it. Interior really nice and drives great! BTW if anybody could post a video showing how to access that LCM it'd be really helpfull and save me $$$! My inertior is really clean and i dont want to have to rip anything apart that I can't put back together!
Looking at these cars crazy how much the prices went up found a 2009 Town car 240k miles $4300 and a 2011 Town Car 112k miles for 6000$ What do you reccomend I should go for?
@@Maleekus oh you talkin about the stupid lid not closing all the way I got you yeah it's just the one door but they don't bother me I have actually fixed it since then
But I have a couple of these cars that's the only one that does it and it was an easy fix and I've never actually had a problem with the window regulators at all
People from all over the country bring these cards to work on so I can swoop them up modify them make them stronger make them better and these are few concerns I would not be concerned with
@@FordBossMe it was 5k total, only problem is a chipped paint spot on the trunck the size of a quarter the woman who gave it to the dealership traded it in once then got it back and traded it AGAIN for a Buick enclave she wasn't to fond of getting rid of it I was told
Yeah the old man traded this one I have in and cried, he had a signature for work and a Executive For his wife he wasn't happy but it went to me and I make sure she is taken care of well above and beyond
