1998 AMA Supercross Rd1 from the LA Coliseum 

This was an awesome race to be at. Going into the pits to see all the new bikes, wanting McGrath to win because he really was an underdog, and also thinking that Windham or Lusk would probably win based on how good they looked. That was a really fun day (I always got to the supercrosses around noon when the gates would open). The only bad thing was leaving the Coliseum at night. Not in the best neighborhood. 😬

Ppl are such haters. Everyone wanted emig to lose and they were pissed when he won in 97. Made excuses for McGrath until no end. The commentators would briefly acknowledge emig in 1st and zoom in on McGrath in 4th for 5 minutes straight. King emig

Jeff Emming versus John Henry was a battle for the ages, those three stroke motors sure sounded amazing. Emming was never the same when he left yamasaki for kawaha. Also the best commentators were art Bailey and David eckman. People forget but 1998 was also the same year that Ricky Carmichael retired so that indoor Motocross title was up for grabs.

The four stroke was a huge advantage by ccs alone, not really a fair race.
