Stopping cars like the Burton Peugeot Cosworth competing took an entire community of competitors and fans away from rallying and I really can't see the sport recovering over here

World motorsport on sky was a great show. Showed loads of different championships from all over the world.

God. I remember going on that rally, horrible wet day, but good. We always enjoyed the Bulldog and Audi international, was a prelude to the RAC rally and occasionally you would get some of the big teams running in it. I remember on the Audi international once, we were making our way home after a good day out in the forests and we come across the ford service team, so we stopped for a look and a few minutes later stig arrived in he's RS200, then a little later Vauxhall turned up for service that was the first time I had seen a group s astra close up, obviously they were just using the rally for testing. Good days in rallying compared with now.

Did Sky Sports honestly broadcast coverage of the Mintex National championship back then? Or was this a one-off because Prodrive were fielding a works entry before the RAC?
