Did you ever finish? I just bought a 1999 D7 with a blown head that I'm wanting to rebuild. I've never rebuilt an engine before and want to make sure I put it back together right.

ive never seen someone polish the crank themselves, is this what the machiene shop does? or is it as effective as what ever the machine does? and do you lose any material or are you able to use standard size bearings afterwards?

Because the crank had no damage but had oil staining, polishing the journals is completely safe and worth the time. Yes i was able to use standard bearings and i checked clearances and it worked great.

@@rigzgaming4370 The rear main seal was the main issue but at over two hundred thousand miles the oil control rings and valve guides were also worn out and leaking. Part 4 is now posted!
