1998 Zx9 Kawasaki Tear Down Part 2 

I just bought a 2001. Sat for 13yrs. Cleaned the carbs and she runs great.

Glad you found a Project lets hope the second gear demon is not haunting your transmission.If you got it to start and run smooth no skipping or just dying. Ecu stator and rectifier-is prob working and of course your not dealing with major electrical problems yet.Check your battery while its running for 13.4-14 volts that will tell ya you charging system is working.Who cares if its original or not. Carbs-Pilot jets are clogged=no idle you are bypassing the circuit in the carbs using the choke

I'll be doing some of this here soon I suspect. My zx9r stalled on me. Went to start it and it wound down to a stop while cranking, sort of like a dying battery. Battery tested just fine but replaced it anyway. Now all I get is the starter engaging then lights dim so much, the fuel pump won't even run. Remove the starter from the circuit, pump runs, no light dimming. Trying to push the bike to start it results in rear tire skidding. Tried every gear, same results. Something is telling me the engine decided to seize for some reason. Oil, coolant levels and their lifetime were still within specs so to speak. Looks like I'll have to learn how to replace a head and piston rings now. lol

i just picked up that same bike its been setting for 10 years im going to go into the carbs but my question is should i here the fuel pump run when i turn on the key

Carbs need to be cleaned out properly I could do a 5 video series on just that topic And i will soon enough.Alot of guys have some great vids out there look around. As for the plastics and front stay if you get the light and dash cluster the leads will mach up.Male -female .female male connectors.If the leads are all present.As for the air lines vacuum set up and ram air your gonna need the parts to make that up.Just hit me back after your ready if you choose to not street fight it.Good Luck,.

ok i bought a 98 zx9r c1 as a project bike . here is the problems i cant start it without the choke applied ?plus how can i tell if the wiring on this bike is all original like icu ...etc?an where does the the carb air intake hose connect to ? the reason im asking is because the bike is missing the whole front fairings, mounts, gauge an lights. an wasnt sure if i should just go out an buy a whole new wiring harness. do u have any videos of you hooking up the lights an gauge?

The sprocket nut does not Come off that easyily...
