Best advice ever at 10:50 with seating the new seal in place before trying to smash the new pump down. Just finished installing a new pump on my 01, 330ci with only 91k miles. Your video helped me get the installation done.
200 for labor isn't bad but it isn't great either...this is a really simple job to do in my opinion. Now, if that 200 includes changing the fuel filter also...that's a deal. Cause that filter sucks.
Do you have any tips for the tabs holding the lock ring in place? My lock ring won’t budge at all and I’m pretty sure it’s the tabs but I don’t know which way to adjust them
It's been quite some time since I did this job, but I think you had to press down on them with a screwdriver. And the trick is you kind of have to press down on both tabs at the same time with two different screwdrivers and then tap the lock ring to loosen it. Again I could be a little off here cuz it's been a while but that seems to be what I remember
beautiful DESCRIPTION!! bravo!! this is exactly what I need to see!! THANK YOU FOR TAKING TIME TO EXPLAIN EVERY STEP ON PUTTING IT BACK AND about the alignment of the ring!!!!!!!! YOU ARE SUPER AWESOME!! THANK YOU!!!
Honestly it probably doesn't matter much. I think we paid like 150ish for the pump in this video from RockAuto. I'd prob buy the cheaper one from AutoZone
I'm thinking hard about buying a 2000 528i. The owner has it listed as not running, due to needing a new fuel pump and fan installed. Do you know if the pump in this model(3 series) is in the same spot in a 528i? 1 more question, I promise...😊. Any idea what fan he could be talking about? He's asking 800. Has 120,000 miles. I feel confident that I can handle doing this myself. ... I dont have a whole lot of experience fixing cars, so a little reserved on the idea. I apologize for asking so many questions. Thank you so much in advance. Traci You voice is beautiful by the way.
Hi Traci. Thank you for watching and commenting. I'm a tad flattered by your compliment of my voice. 😁 Thank you. Fuel pump location for the 528i will be in roughly the same place and configuration as the 330i in my video. I wouldn't expect too many differences. The fan I expect is the cooling fan on the engine. On the 330i in this video, it actually had 2 fans. One mechanical fan that was run by the serpentine belt and one electric fan in front of the AC condenser. The number and type of fan depended on what country your car was made for, if it was an auto or stick-shift and if it had AC. My guess is that the 528i you're looking at is an auto with AC, so you might have 2. Or you might not. One of the more popular upgrades over the years was to remove the mechanical fan and upgrade the electrical fan with a larger more powerful one. Kept things running a bit better and avoided the chance that the mechanical fan could fail and cause damage to your car. Thanks again for the kind words. Good luck with your car.
I changed mine, but the white ring that goes around the tank that holds the fuel pump sealed is cracked. That part cannot even be ordered for this car. Can anyone help with this?
Yes it can. Almost any part# can be found on realoem.com and then crossreferenced to FCPEuro for order. www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-fuel-sender-lock-ring-16116762417
@@jcx2bby Thank you. This is actually not the part though. The one you sent the link to is the metal ring that goes over the fuel pump. The plastic ring I am referring to is not sold separately for the 2003 BMW 325i M54. It’s part of the gas tank. It’s a dirty trick BMW played on us…
