I like these escalades. they are so unique and really paved the way for the 2000-2006 gm large suvs. this and the yukon denalis of the year are my favorites besides the new 2007-2010 models.
Those aftermarket tail lights, Buick side vents and that billet grill look terrible, I honestly don't understand why people put this stuff on their cars.
@Mister707Gamer i also had a 1999 escalade, traded in like a year ago for something my wife wanted ( infiniti QX56) , i'm looking forward to finding another one, really liked it. My cars... 2008 Infiniti QX56 2009 Ford Expedition king ranch 4x4 2009 Ford F-250 superduty king ranch 4x4
GM was pretty lazy when it came to the first gen Escalade in its design, it looks exactly like a GMC Yukon. all GM did was slap a caddy logo on a Yukon and called it an Escalade. I mean you could put a caddy grill and on a gmc Yukon in this era and people would think it was an escalade. that's how lazy GM was with designing the first gen escalade.
Tabitha Williams I like the 1999 Denali Better then the original because the denali didn't have that annoying continous chime found in the regular model.
SteelCity1981 They applied that same approach to all escalades. The second generations interior was pure Yukon, the third generation looked externally more Cadillac but once inside it's a Yukon, This 4th Generation is the same deal. People seem to be comfortable with paying a whole lot extra for that wreath and crest and not really getting the Cadillac heritage with it.
Hi I reside in the Caribbean and thinking seriously of buying one which I saw in a yard for sale. It needs a little restoration such as seats, side mirrors and engine service. I would like to acquire this vehicle as it is one I always admired and is one I would like to keep long term. Please anyone as to if this would be a good acquisition. Thanks.
I hear the compressor cycling on and off. that was a huge issue with this era of Tahoes/Yukons/Escalades. I had a 97' Tahoe LT and had to get a new compressor on it. But I have to admit.. With over 220K miles I could never complain. That truck was AMAZING! GM makes the BEST SUVS on the PLANET! Now they are making the best cars/ pickups and crossovers too LOL :)
this generation of Escalade (also the Yukon Denali) doesn't really offer much over a standard Tahoe,Suburban or Yukon. that being said I like the front end styling more and these are good solid trucks still. just don't expect them not to guzzle gas lol
@McL4ren actually you do. its called the mercedes m-class/gl-class/gaelendewagen, land rover range rover/discovery, bmw x1/x3/x5/x6, audi q5/q7. the escalade is a luxury sport utility vehicle. the above european models are also luxury sport utility vehicles.
@wheely132 well with a viper alarm you get a viper fob and i know from personal experience that if you use the factory fob to unlock the doors it sets of the viper alarm.
I like how no one notice AC does not work due to being empty. Thats why the Compressor turns on and off. In my Camaro before yanking it out, it would cause Idle problems. Good truck, family member used to own one before getting a 2001 Denali.
Hi hoping someone can provide me with a bit of information. I’ve got a 99 Escalade and I’ve been researching the specs but I can’t find anything about the rear diff? What kind of diff is used in this car? Is it an open diff? Or a locking diff?
Kyle, What do you think about the fact that so many perceive American cars as "bad" and unreliable? Do you think Japanese and German cars are of better quality?
@petey815 I know... I think there was an issue on these GM full size truck/SUV instrument clusters that were in the Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra and the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade/Suburban made before 2000 with the fuel gauge spazzing like that. I saw a couple of videos on youtube where that happened. I think kyle has a vid on his channel of a 99 Suburban I believe that does that.
@spongebob773 that's because the compressor had so much resistance on the pulley, it was very hard for the crankshaft to spin the belt, bad problem on all 99-00 escalades.
The design of the 1999-2001 Escalade feels so unfinished, like it was a beta for the 2002 model which is far more memorable and altogether its own vehicle.
@metalmaniac622 that's normal man, it just does that at start up, which means the car's compuer is checking everything, as you noticed it returned to the actuall fuel level, like i said it just does that at start up, many people think something's wrong with it when it fact, its not, no trying to be rude.
I have a 2000 GMC Yukon Denali, and it's almost identical to this, when you started it up it was just like starting mine :) I love this truck, except that it's got those tail lights and the aftermarket grille :(
I THINK IS THE FORD EXPLORER WHICH MADE ME SWAP LIMOUSINE FOR SUV , for ever ! Drove from Montreal to New York !! Fantastic trip !!! And car ! Since I drive SUV ... looking to buy a 2006/2007 ESCALADE ..
@carmencolumbusohio I myself do not like the mustang. I like the camaro way better. I work on the f-series production line as " the marrige manager" which is when the body meets the frame of the car, well in my case, the truck, and the f-series is built with no "get rich quick" skeems. I have a 2009 f-series superduty to tow my 11,000lb + boat.i love the traverse, my mom has one. LT in model. AWD too. I wonder if they are going to make it to a new generation, what do you think?
are these bad cars to ride in? were thinkin about getting an 00 looks just like this but were not sure if it looks ghetto or not haha either this or an 05 gmc truck with all the features
@stopscrewingaround11 ummmmm, Ford's 4WD system is not called " AutoTrac", that is GM's, Ford's is called ControlTrac, and let me advise you that i work on the f-series plant, and i should know that the expedition does have neutral in the transfer case... you put the 4x4 selector switch in between 4 hi, and 4lo, and there you go you are in neutral... Also i have a f250, and 2 expeditions with the system, so i should know
@freezehold Nothing is wrong with american made vehicles. All it takes is 1 person to start a rumer, which i guess is what happened to the bad reputation of american made vehicles. I've had one of these, and i have a ford expedition king ranch 4x4, and a ford superduty king ranch 4x4, and i have no complaints, and i don't have any about the escalade i had.
Anthony Torres You can say that about any luxury car: Lexus ES-Series is a rebadged Toyota Camry, A Cadillac Deville is a rebadged Chevy Impala, an Acura TL is a rebadged Honda Accord. BOOM!! Every luxury brand is a rebadged commuter brand, except Mercedes and Big Money Waster (BMW)
@saabkyle04 i liked those body styles out of all of them man, nice vids, please do a test drive of a late model expedition, i know you already have some, just want to see some new ones' thanks man. 4WD if possible.
GM was pretty lazy with this one. It was basically a Yukon with wood, chrome, and a chime instead of a buzzer. Not too different from the tahoe and suburban. It's kind of the same deal with the second generation one, but slightly better. It wasn't until the 2007 model year where the escalade actually started to look like a superior version
@petey815 yea i seen reports on yahoo and google saying by the end of this month there going to stop makeing the Northstar......dont get me wrong the 3.6di v6 they putting in all the cars are nice but the northstar was CADILLAC from the early 90s
@kendrickevans301 I never said ford was bad, they are just not original. I have also had a HORRIBLE experience with ford. I bought a NEW mustang.. 9 months later i have rust on THREE areas. I take it to the dealer and im told "if the rust isnt all the way through.. its not under warranty" so i would have had to wait until the rust rotted through the doors before they would fix it" LOL! so now i have a traverse. have had it for about a yea and its still pristine. build qty is on par with germany,
@saabkyle04 i like those that era do , Gm did a much better job with sec gen one, the first ones whats was so speical about no navi or nothing, not even digtal mile metter?
