I show the process for replacing the idler pulley on a 1999 Dodge Dakota with the 3.9L V-6 Magnum engine. Dayco Idler Pulley (Part#: 89048) www.amazon.com...
Thankyou so much. I have a squeak that is intermittent and I've been working on this truck for months now. I thought "what now" cause I'm tired of bringing it to the shop for everything i can't figure out. Happy to see something I can take care of in 30 min on my next free day.
this video helped me install mine as i really needed to see your attaching bolts on this particular part,by the way, when you put a new compressor on be damn sure to install the fan shroud as that is what wipes the heat off the radiator, the radiators aren't too large anyway,if yours is missing that explains why your compressor went out,it overheated, thanks again for the pictures
Hey, Marcus. I just came home with the idler pulley on my Dakota screaming. You could see it hanging cockeyed in there and you know it's gotta be replaced. I Googled the job and got your video. Good, clear visuals and excellent instructions. Tomorrow when I go out to fix this bad boy, I'm going to have you sitting on my shoulder and it should go pretty darned easy. Thanks a million for this video.
Hey man, nice video. I had to eeplace6the water pump amd noticed my pulley not tracking right, I thought I was missing a washer for the rear side of the pulley. But I guess it was installed cockeyed. I'm on it now thanks again!
Nice instructional video. I once had a bearing lose some of its balls on a snowblower impeller bearing. Like you, the engines noise hid any bearing noise. The tip off was when sparks were coming out of the chute, as the impeller was rubbing the housing. I have had Toyota pickups and a 99 4runner. Those vehicles and the cars I have had over the years and cars of folks I have helped have had plastic fans. I did not think metal fans were still used anymore. I guess I don't get under enough hoods.
I know it's been two years, but my local Advance Auto Parts had a bypass pulley in stock that was specifically designed for that purpose. I literally just took the AC compressor out and there's a plate that bolts down onto the same pad and has a pulley on it so you don't have to get a different belt or anything.
