She was my favorite, hands down. She embodies Miss Universe to me. Kind, gentle, strong and wonderful.

She was not that intelligent and eloquent that's why she lost.

Everyone in top 3 that night wasn't originally meant for Miss universe Miss Botswana was sent in miss world 1997 but unplaced..she was sent again to miss universe two years later Miss Philippines was originally miss world Philippines. She was sent as replacement when the original delegate was dethroned Miss Spain was originally top 12 only in miss Spain. However miss Spain winner cannot compete in Miss universe because shes underage (she was later sent in miss world '99 and reached top 10). The first runner up in Miss Spain cannot replace because her grandfather was sick and was later sent in miss international '99 (finished 1st runner up). The second runner up of miss Spain was sent in Miss Europe. So the organizers designated Diana Noguiera (top 12) as delegate to Miss universe '99

For two weeks, yes. Osmel has to keep Carolina (miss Venezuela) in rest mode for two weeks to train Miss Philippines..and in the top 5 Philippines was third and Venezuela just behind in fourth!

But nobody thought that Miriam Quiambao would've made it that high in Miss Universe 1999. That being said, it wasn't until the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs stepped up and unleash the Jus Sanguinis principle to confront Madame Stella Araneta and Binibining Pilipinas and their shady dealings during the Venus Raj saga in 2010.

After the pageant Miriam was offered to represent Philippines again in miss world '99 but she refused saying shed rather give chance to other girls. Then Charlene Gonzalez was offered to miss world but Charlene was about to get married to Aga Muhlach that time. Then it was offered to actress Sunshine Cruz, but according to Sunshine in an interview she had a daring 'bold' movie earlier that year z so she passed..so the organizers designated Lalaine Edson (originally Bb International) to Miss world '99

In top 5 interviews Philippines was third and Venezuela was fourth! Same thing in 2003... osmel agreed to train Amelia Vega, then in miss universe finals Amelia won and his miss Venezuela was second! Thats why starting 2004 osmel announced they will no longer train foreign queens

LMAO!!! If you see the scores, you’ll notice Spain obtained the highest scores in swimsuit and evening gown competitions. South Africa had the highest average score in the semifinals not Philippines.
