These things were truly awful. I had an 820SE, bought from a Rover main dealer and after an AA inspection. It burnt an exhaust valve out after a few months - 16 new valves fitted. It then had a new cambelt which stripped a tooth after a couple of thousand miles. 16 more new valves. The thing cost me £5k in repairs over 18 months, and that was back in 1992 ! Just tow this thing to the local council tip - don't inflict it on some poor innocent. Scrap value only !

The early ones were dreadful,you didn't need a dipstick to check the oil,it was all outside the engine. The later ones were far better,more honda legend than rover.
