2.5 needs to have its driver side mount replaced with Anchor 2853(stock 4.0L mount). 2.5L 4 cyl passenger side works as is. If you've got a 2.5L truck, swap out your drivers' side mount for an Anchor 2853 and you're good to go with RicksRangerz 5.0 mounts. The engine itself fits really well in the Ranger.
prushimush yea I updated this video it’s new one at this point in this video I didn’t know I was going by what I was told but thank u for ur comment 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks so much I just bought a used 2001 ranger and am dreaming of doing this swap. Right now it's poking codes for everything lol. Oh well it was only 4250 for the truck. The guy was honest and up front about it all. There is lifter noise. And a few minor things like it keeps overheating I replaced the fan clutch and the thermostat. Im Going to replace the radiator tonight after I flush the coolant. I've gotta say this is one of the best detailed videos about this subject that isn't a big commercial. Thanks bro.
Heck yea man I'm glad this helps good luck on the build sorry its taking me this long to reply it's not updating me when u guys comment I'm so sorry for this
Damn 4250 that guy taxedd u im not sure how much of a 5 year difference but i bet its a lot in this economy but i got mine for 800 blown head gasket replaced it for less than 150 and maybe 200 for casualties during the head gasket replacement
Hey I have a 99 4wd 3.5 ranger i am putting a 302 in I got the adapter plates from Rick ranger what motor mounts do I need I checked out the anchor motor mounts but don’t know if they will bolt into the frame the same
Right and left got to have these studs have to be side by side some come in the studs offset those kind want work you will see what I mean in the link www.summitracing.com/parts/ani-2853/make/ford/model/ranger/year/1999
Do you still have to use an oil filter adapter since the newer Rangers have rack and pinion steering? I believe that the steering box on the older Ranger requires it? Thanks for putting some information out on this! In a perfect world everything would have a small block Ford!😎
On my 98 ranger I don't. The adapter the explorer came with worked perfect and I can see no reason I can not spin it off and put a new one in. Motor came from a 1998 explorer
Would it be possible to slap a 4.6 from a crown Vic or a stang into my 99 ranger? Mines a 2.5 Ik that you said ya didn’t know about the other engines other than the 4.0.
Well great question not gonna say its not possible ive seen some wild stuff before ive seen a 390 blower inna 86 ranger before so anything is possible. Ur just gonna run into a lot modifying issues along the way possible firewall and radiator core support. Just have a welder and torch handy. If westen can put a 12v Cummins in a mustang 4.6 should fit
@@TheCustomEverythingChannel thank you. I might have to go with a smaller v8 then. Ik the 4.6 is a big boi. Especially in that little engine bay. I was just wondering. I gotta get the 2.5 running first lol. Broke the egr tube off of the head. I can’t find a manifold for the 2.5 to save my life. I saw in some forums that a 2.3 might fit my 99 2.5, but I want to get a cheap 2.3 from the junk yard first before getting the new one. Do you think the 2.3 manifold will go on my 2.5?
Thing is if it will seal up properly thats the only thing bc if it want it want run right. Check weaver parts online they have parts for anything I bet they will have one
I'm using adapter plates.. Got them from a dude named Rick. He sells then on ebay..my ranger is a99 45 bucks I think it was shipped. then use stock 4.0 frame mounts
L.T DEX 57. I read somewhere that once you get the engine down in the ranger chassis. . you may find you will have to cut those explore mounts up.. I could be wrong. though. That's why I bought the adapter plates. PLUS is sets it up enough to clear the oil pan
Rick's conversion mount plates are killer for 98+ 2WDs. Bolt up some Anchor 2853 mounts and drop in in and you're good to go. Works for 2.5, 3.0 or 4.0 2WDs.
Yes with a little Modifying but I figured out Rickz rangers on Ebay makes brackets that mount Straight to the stock mounts if that would be easier for u I'll try to find a link
Here is the link to V8 Swap mounts for a ford Ranger. Use with 4.0L motor mounts. www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Ranger-V8-302-swap-motor-mounts-plates-Newly-designed-Thicker-98-12/152046882412?hash=item2366b34e6c:g:BSAAAOSwSlBY0CuK
Ha it's understandable the utube videos I ve see. Most of them by a wrecked v-8 explorer and just switch everything over most of the motors have the gt-40 heads and they 8.8s
