I have a 1998 s70....I will never get rid of it.... perfect car.

The Volvo S70 and V70 are two of the best used cars you can get for under $5,000. They are good safe cars that will always make you happy. The downside to the V70 is that it doesn't corner well, but it's top speed makes up for it. If you want a car that will always keep you safe. Don't buy a pick-up truck or big gas guzzlin' SUV, buy a Volvo. In fact, you can get a good deal on used Volvos.

Bought a s70 a few hours ago for about $300, very good condition with coilovers and all extra options that you could get it wit back in 2000, very happy with it because i had been looking for an affordable one for ages

The engine sounds really good when you rev it high! Had this car in 2008-2011.

This car which wasn't built in Göteborg, Sweden (but in Gent, Belgium) any more is already of inferior quality in terms of material, workmanship, and durability of supplier parts, good enough for U.S.-American quality standards, but by no means satisfactory for European buyers. Hence, this vehicle was a flop in Europe and especially in Germany and Scandinavia, and the popularity of the 850. Its sales figures could never be matched by the early S/V70, its successor model. I myself still drive my 1996 unbreakable 2.0 litre 850 "elk" Made in Sweden (of course, regularly serviced by Volvo), which is still as young and fresh as on the first day with meanwhile 215'000 kilometres, the best car I ever owned, even better than Mercedes, BMW, or Audi.

Mine has 234,849 miles and runs great with a mean turbo!!!

Anyone with a Volvo and has an engine tick or knock, use a higher grade fuel. I used grade 87 and had a tick. Switched to 91 and it went away.

I have a 2000 volvo s70 glt se with only 20,000 miles on it. It's black and showroom condition. It even smells like new. I only use it on occasion as it's VERY HARD to keep a car nice in NYC. I use it on long trips, as well as to the suburbs. According to Volvo dealer this car is better than some of the newer models. I notice often that people have car trouble with questions and answers. I find that most noticeably when people buy cars used. Make sure you know what services car had, or needs.

The standard S70 did not have a turbocharged engine. The only versions of the S70 were the GLT, All Wheel Drive, and T5 trims.

Thank you for this video, I am looking for a reasonable used car, and discovered the S70 in different forums. It appears to be a gem, not one most would think about buying, and I have seen a few used in my area, going for low prices, it is a look that isn't for anyone. I like it, it's different and you don't see them everyday on the road. I am just being fussy now, I am trying to find one in grey,black or blue. I like the rims on the T5 models, any suggestions which S70 model is better?

I'm glad mine doesn't have that ugly fake wood interior paneling. I have recently bought one of these 1999 Volvo S70s which had only one previous owner who kept it well-mainted and garaged. It's so comfortable that my only complaint thus far is that when it's cold outside and I'm in my car for more than ten minutes, I have to take my coat off because I have the AUTO temperature set at 72 so it keeps a constant temperature of 72 no matter what the weather is outside. I loveit.

@xxsheat I had to replace the ETM on my '99 S70 at 76k miles but we were lucky that we found out about Volvo's under-the-radar recall on the system. Our local dealer was happy to replace it at minimal to no cost.

i like these volvos very solid cars and i think the syleing while simple is very nice and ages well

an easy way to see if its a turbo or not is to look and see if it has 'T5' badging. the T5 models were a sportier variant that generally featured the turbochargers (T5 stands for turbo 5). they still use those editions today on their current models!

@Mattb57 Volvo a/c systems always have problems with the evaporator and condenser. Apparently the engineers in Sweden don't worry too much about a/c in their sub-Arctic nation.

Hi Kyle, I have this same awesome vehicle in blue. I was wondering how I can get that damn chime to turn off while I drive. I find it very relaxing too and that's a problem cause I tend to pass out on the highway. But luckily the lights in the dashboard keep flickering and therefore catch my attention preventing me from falling into REM phase of my sleep. You did not demonstrate the auto-locks and I was wondering if the vehicle you tested had devil possessed central locking system like mine.

I do. Especially the T5 versions with the 5-speed manual. But those are super rare

ive taken like 200 or these apart in the junk yard ! they are ez to work on and no plastic under the hood ... that wood dash inlay any one at what yard this wound up in ..my 98 same color need this up grade ...

The turbo is obvious on Volvo white block motors; the outlet pipe to the FMIC goes over spark plug valley cover.

I'm looking into the s70 cuz 4 door cheap reliable and turbocharged I want to build a sleeper over time but to the point can you hear the turbo without any modifications or would I need to install a BOV

My neighbors have one of these for sale. It's the same color but there's a bit of paint chipping off the bumpers. It seems like a good car.

@Goldenrod636 The majority of Volvos do have leather - if you get one with the Premium Package. Most vehicles you see on Volvo dealer lots do have that package. A combination of cloth/leatherette upholstery comes standard and they can be hard to find.

Sorry to break it to you but it’s an NA 5 cylinder. No turbo here. That tube going from the intake box goes straight into the throttle body

I baught one of these today throttle got stuck on guy revved high had to shut it off clean car no rust I figured for 100.00. Beans I could go wrong.

@michoacan684 That is when you have 2 or 3 different people that drive a specific car, and they each can have there on setting at a touch of a button. It'll control on most cars, the power seats, power mirrors, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and on my expedition, the dimness on my instrument panel. Basicall, anything that is power operated, and can be adjusted, an be saved for everyone who drives that car.

@APR846 I think they only did that on the 850's, as far as I remember all s70's have the same airbox. I could be wrong but I think that's how it is.

I would like to find a white or navy blue s70 Volvo for a 2000 to 2004 model do you have anything like this or close to it. Where are u located???

@jsrosa1282 you don't have to tell me my mom has a xc90, my sis has a s80,my brother has one like that^ my uncle has a c70 and a xc90, my aunt has 2 xc90's and a s60, and my other aunt has a s80, then my grandma has a s80, then my uncle has a s60 and a xc70, although my mom's xc90's A/C works quite well but it's not even a year old so we'll see, and when the car is off the fan blows to keep the cabin cool......

The engine is same at sweden , this car also have 2,4 L non turbo so i dont know why he said Turbo engine

but...i dont see the hose for the recirculating valve?

No it really isn't. There is no turbo hose and the intake manifold is curved, so it really is a non-turbo 2.4.

But also, if you get a V70 XC it's factory installed dark wood trim and shows NO grey areas but doesn't look as cheap as this one.
