The 1kd-ftv is an awesome engine. Do the proper maintenance, check the oil pickup when doing oil changes and replace injectors and seats before they are flogged and you wont have problems.
Im on 135k zero issues so far although idle has just started to get roughin start up but clears as soon as i rev the engine , recon its time for a decarb?
Except for doing all that and still having a piston crack on you at just over 200,000km.. Brilliant bottom end, faultless top end that rarely needs adjusting but those 040 and 080 pistons were a monumental mistake by Toyota that will cost them millions in the long run.
This issue amazes me.. The 1KD has an ECU that you can read the injector feedback values from quite easily but the factory ECU will not throw a check engine light when the compensation values are out of spec. A simple programming change could have saved Toyota customers a fortune.
@@AUCongnitiveRealist +5 or -5 from 0.0 is the spec, always had to replace 1kd injectors. Half the issue was fuel quality but used to recommend customers run a secondary fuel filter to increase injector life
Routine maintenance does NOT mention although all this needs doing Egr system clean / inlet manifold clean every 100,000km Injectors removed tested cleaned every 1000,000km MAF MAP sensor clean every 20,000km Change fuel filter every year Early units had bad water pumps
It just started to smoke pure black…we thought it was an injector ….then the mechanic found diesel in the sump…..missing like it was on 3 cylinders ….black soot out of the exhaust…always best to get 3 opinions lol
The Indonesian market kijang Innova has a 2KD while the Filipino and Indian market Innova (without kijang branding) has a 1KD In Indonesia the only vehicles with 1KD is the early dcab Hilux, Toyota hiAce commuter, and the old land cruiser Prado. The only 1kd still in production for the Indonesian market is the Hiace commuter

Si silva en el 1gb cagaste amigo xD, silva porque la comprecion del turbo se dispara hacia arriba donde el intercooler se encuentra por eso la oyes, en cambio el intercooler en el 1gd y 2gd se cambio hacia adelante, de esa manera se hizo mas silencioso el motor, pero tambien el intercooler esta mas expuesto a piedras y el otro problema a que toda la admision se come el aceite del venteo a menor kilometraje que el 1kd.
The problem that i encountered about the 1Gd engine is the early change of Clutch lining, alternator pulley, turbo actuator, sudden battery shutdown and the fuel pump. For me. 1kd is better than 1/2gd but the advantage of these gd engines is the Power, Speed and fuel consumption and comfort.
