I was taught to count triplets or compound time as 1 + a 2 + a 3 + a, etc. (i.e. one and ah two and ah three and ah). And semiquavers/sixteenths as 1 e + a 2 e + a (one ee and ah two ee and ah...) etc. I thought everyone did that, but maybe it's just a percussionist thing.

@atatdotdot
@atatdotdot 2 года назад
My point was that a piece in 9/8 does not have nine beats in a bar, it has three - it's compound triple time. So you should count 1 x y 2 x y 3 x y, where x and y are some subdivision syllables - and I presume these will vary by region or teacher.
@guillaumepinard936
@guillaumepinard936 2 года назад
The exactly counting is 1 2 3 in dotted quater note that’s its. you must to feel each dotted quater note. The firts one must be feel like if you exhale more heavyweight and relax all the tension, and the second and the third must be inhale more light. you always must feel a circle To each bars of music with your wrist cause wrist breathe. the circle begins to the bottom with the first time. And goes up with the other time and start again with the first time to the next music bar. All the piano’s music must be played like that, cause you group your music bar in single gesture

I've definitely spent several days with this piece. I appreciate seeing someone fairly accomplished make many of the same inevitable flubs with fingering (admittedly, she gave herself very little time) but it reminds me that regardless of how accomplished you are, we need to go through the same learning curve. Some of us walk it faster than others, but we all must walk it. Debussy's music has tremendous room for finesse and expression, so can continually teach us the more we work with it. Thank you for an amazing video!

@@jdun1 cause Liebestraum is not too complex for sight-reading. Don't get me wrong, it's not easy. There are a couple of cadenza-like moments that take a bit more time, but it's not like her end results are concert-ready performances, nor are they intended to be. On the other hand, I've seen people with some extraordinary sight reading skills who could probably sight read the entire Friska section (mentioned in the comment section earlier) with no problem, not to mention Liebestraum. So it all depends on the individual, I guess.
