@6:00 "it's not the most exciting job, stacking bales", No its not but when its done well by a guy that knows what he's doing, with no over revving and no trying to pick up too much in one go etc. it's very satisfying to watch.👍

I've never seen one of those wrappers working up close, that is amazing... Love your vids, reminds of 'back in the day' when I worked on arable farms in my 20s.

This year is a repeat of the year before last! Least I might get some hay sold this year 😂. I'm still surprised you don't have a baler and wrapper on the farms

Nice video, good to see some good stacking going on. Seems like grass yields are low all around this year, hopefully with a bit of fertiliser and rain the second cut will be better else I think plenty of us will be running short. You're certainly lucky to have the 400 bales on stock from last year.

Another great video, everyone seems to be down on grass first cut. Down here in Devon we have big cracks in the ground so an odd shower won't really be enough. Keep up the good work and keep the green machines running, how many cuts will you hope to get off, weather permitting. Cheers.

270 bales of 20 hectares (my calculator says this ;) ) ain't to bad due to the circumstances i guess. We baled 3 hectares (the other 13 wasn't quite worth mowing yet) yesterday and we got 37 bales (160x120x70). We were suprised, since we don't even got 20 millimeters of rain since the middle of march. (here is the middle of the Netherlands)

Any chance of explaining Haylage vs Silage and why you'd use one over the other. Are there economic or livestock advantages?

Why do you put your grab aiming down when reversing after dropping of the bails? Is it just so you don’t hit anything?

What would your cost per bale be using a round baler vs the square baler? We use round because equipment cost is alot lower.
@sammichael2159
@sammichael2159 4 года назад
It actually works out cheaper to make clamp silage once you get the pit put up me and my boss talked about it and we used to make 600 round bales and the cost of it for a contractor to do was 15 000 £ but to fill a clamp of silage it was only £4000 and they had it done in a day

I agree, but son want's to do bales....then of course he can sell 'em and probably make more money than feeding them to our livestock...(thus, we keep less big livestock..) Different farms - Different business plans - Different bosses...!!

What's the difference between unwrapped hay bales, haylage and silage? Thanks
@MyFarmingVideos
@MyFarmingVideos 4 года назад
hay bales unwrapped have to be completely dry or else they will heat and rot the same as straw.Haylage bales have slight dampness or green bits in them thats why they need to be wrapped and as for silage it must be wrapped straight after baling or putting in a clamp because in silage the sugars start the heating process (fermenting) which turns the grass into silage
@joeinglis132
