"Look Choop" is man-made like you mentioned. They're mung bean paste mixed with sugar and coconut milk, rounded up into balls. Then they're coated in the gelatin skin (colored with food coloring to imitate real fruits).

The vegetables in Khao Kha Moo is pickled mustard greens not the morning glory and same for Khao Soi as well. Hope you enjoy Chiangmai and try many northern Thai dishes during your stay.❤

You almost got the pronunciation right 🤭 it is Kao Kha Moo Chang Phueak. Add dipping soure helps to reduce oily teste and spicy ckick. Luk Chup is Thai traditional dessert often in shapes of fruits and vegetables. It’s made from unshelled mung beans, coconut cream, and sugar.

12.15 "Luk Choop" is a type of Thai dessert, molded into fruit or vegetable. Made from mung bean, coconut, jelly powder and food coloring. It's my favorite one too.

Lokchup!! I think that’s how you spell the name of it. It is my favorite Thai dessert of all time because of the cute and colorful presentation. It is make out of mink beans, sugar and coconut milk then cook slowly then shape into any shape you want, the most common are miniature fruits. Then the final steps is to dip in the agar agar (jelly) so it’s forms the skin on the out side. Glade my child hood food still around for people to enjoy.

They’re Mung bean balls! Apparently they’re the Thai version of marzipan, but they don’t have almonds, so they use mung beans.

You should try to go to Wat Luang Khun Win. It's on a mountain and it is 700 years old. You will never regret going there. Btw Luk Chub is smashed bean coated with gelatin.(11:30)

And likely your insurance would be null and void in case of an accident. Maybe that's another little scam. Rental companies should check to make sure drivers have an adequate license.

Sooooooo luk-chup is a type of dessert made of mung bean and the coating is agar agar powder. The most chemical ingredient in that dessert would be food coloring but oh wells 🤷🏻‍♂️

Coconut at 15 baht is a bargain. I cycled to coconut orchard with about 20 cyclists, and still we paid 20 baht/coconut! BTW, vinegar chili sauce is a must for Khao Kha Mu. It blends well with oily Khao Kha Mu to provide balanced taste. Luk Chub is made from peeled green peas but inside is golden yellow color. Peeled green pea or mung bean (golden yellow seed inside) is an ingredient in several Thai sweets such as Luk Chup, Luk Khanun (thumb size oval shaped like jackfruit) and Tao Suan (in gravy, coconut cream liquid with sugar). It is not a scam. Thailand requires international driver licence to drive a car or ride a motor bike. A pedal bike requires no helmet nor licence. It's that easy to google info and it will come out in a second. But you are one in a million tourists stopped by the Thai police. It's as rare as a blue moon to be that unlucky. The same could be said about compulsory helmet wearing. It is rarely enforced outside Bangkok, but it does not mean that it is never enforced. Thai police do check for licence/helmet once in a blue moon outside Bangkok.

I am sorry that you got the ticket. I agree that the car rental company should ask for your license before they let you rent the motorcycle. It would be bad if you had an accident that you couldn’t claim from your insurance. I believe that all tourists need an international driver license to be legally drive overseas.

Previously, police did not strict with driving license. However, many foreigners have never ride bike before. So many accident occured everyday. I agree that rental shop should tell you.

do not pour all the dipping sauce..... on your rice BUT instead just dip your crispy pork on the sauce cuz a lot of dipping sauce is either too salty or too sweet.

When I was in Taiwan it seemed like every night market had a dildo shop or D-themed souvenir shop like the one you saw 😂.

Not a really a scam, Foreigners are know to be reckless. That spot on the way to the mountains is know as all foreigners go to visit the temple. Just avoid it by turning left at 7/11 before that police stop.

I'm so sorry you got the ticket that's ridiculous because they should have told you at the hotel or where you rented the moped.. I heard the crunch of the pork.. that definitely is a scam, the company that you were renting the moped from should have told you about that needing an international license therefore they should pay the ticket because it makes Thailand look bad that they don't let foreigners know this law

If the police's action was to be a bad thing, it would be a corruption not a scam. Clearly, he has official references for offences. A corruption would be the police demanding or accepting cash from you and letting you off the hook without a record. When you have to go pay at a police station or a bank branch, it's legit. Been there, done that.

He didn't say the fine was corruption by the police. He said, the police know the motorbike hiring companies don't tell tourists they need an international licence. The police are happy for the motorbike hiring companies to not tell tourists, so they can fine them and increase revenue. The police are happy for tourists to learn the hard way, or be informed elsewhere. It's clear they don't care the motorbike hiring companies aren't telling tourists what is required.

In Thailand, foreigners who can drive a car and motorcycle without having to use an international driving license Is a person who holds nationality in all 10 ASEAN countries, but must have a driver's license with 2 languages, both the official language of those countries and English, so there are 3 countries that do not have to be translated into English: Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines because English is the official language.

It was not a scam of the $15 fine for a driver's license. Anyway, the rental shop should warn you before letting you out of the shop. If you have a fine ticket to pay at the police station, it's not a scam.
