I own a 3rd gen Mega Cab 5.9L 4x4 Laramie that I drove from Chicago to Centerville (North Salt Lake City), UT to have stretched for a long bed. It's my joy and I only use it to tow my 38ft RV. Otherwise it stays indoors all the time and never driven in the winter. That said, I'd like a daily driver work truck that will pull a flat bed goose neck. I can certainly perform a 1st gen Cummins 12v swap into a '85 W350 Crew Cab and you are giving me the inspiration sir. Will spend this spring looking for a so called rust free W350 Crew Cab possibly in the south-west. Will find a suitable 12v Cummins in time and begin the work. Thank you for the inspiration and lastly, great work on your conversion and videos.
That's a dream truck for me. I'd love to have a mega cab long bed from stretch my truck! And then to have a 1st gen crew cab as well would be such a great fleet.
Great channel. Can't get a deal like that in Canada the bandits up hear want no less than 600 for good stuff and 400 will buy you worn out crap. That's just for seats . l really miss that open border !
I really dig the modern seats in the front and the old style seat covers in the rear! Gives a nice old style/home-y vibe but with modern comfort! Also the brown interior plus the carbon fiber, has the same effect and I think that's really cool! Well Done!!
You have the best first gen videos I have seen so far, I was debating making some myself until I saw your channel. I will just send everyone your way, keep up the great work! One thing I would like to see is jumping the VE pump 1 tooth to advance the timing.
Great video! My son is 14 and dead set on getting a 1st gen 4X4 5 speed extended cab dually. So we are on the hunt for that needle in the hay stack. If you know of any hit me up please.
How is the fitment with the center console flipped down while you're driving? I have 3rd gen seats in my first gen and being 6'4 I can't even drive with the center console flipped down there's just no room side to side. I want to upgrade my seat and center console combo (one with cupholders like yours) but I'm wondering if I should look for a more narrow center console out of an SUV maybe? What are your thoughts
I am a card carrying member of the 6'4" club, second gen seats that are 40/20/40 are a great fit for us. Only problem is, the first gen single cabs don't give you the elbow room you want. But those second gen seats are a good elbow height for those of us who are long of limb.
I don't have a headliner in the crew cab. I've got one in storage that I'm going to make for it but in this video all you are seeing is the sheet metal of the ceiling.
Where did you get your carpet kit from? My first gen has been changed to nv4500 so, I have a hole in front of the shift tower where the old get rag came through the floor that I’d like to cover.
Check out acc.com and rock Auto. Rick Auto sources theirs through acc.com. it's just a matter of who can give you a better shipping price. There are tons of different colors and ACC will send you as many color samples as you need.
decent_1st_gen thank-you. I really like the looks of the Durango seats you put in your truck. I in stalled a full bench back seat with seat belts in the back of my extended cab, those seats would match it perfectly.
Great channel and content. Keep up the hard work. The Durango seats look really good. Curious what other seats you know of that are popular other than the dodge truck seats? I have a standard cab so I’m leaning towards mid sized SUV seats such as the Durango for options.
I have seen these Durango seats used in a single cab and they fit will cause the backs are as thick as 3rd and 4thngen seats. I just picked up a single cab 1st for the channel today so I'm going to be trying to figure something out as far as seats go.
decent_1st_gen looking forward to what’s to come. Look me up on Facebook if you’d like to follow my progress. I have an instagram but haven’t migrated my truck album over there yet.
@@oldcroneysgarage9739 unfortunately 4x4 dually was not an option for the crew cabs so you'd have to swap it. 4x4 was on an option in short bed srw. All long bed crew cabs were 2wd. Any 4wd long beds you see have been swapped.
decent_1st_gen thanks man I really like your idea with the swap an I think I’m going to try an do this. Is there anyway I could like get ahold of you to figure out what size of brackets an other things such as like carpet an stuff?
