I saw these Ladies play in London two weeks ago at the gig that kicked off their current European tour. The venue was a scruffy pub in Lewisham south London with a tiny stage that was barely big enough to accommodate them all. Despite problems with the sound and lack of space, they rocked the place like the professionals that they are to a rapturous response from the audience . Got to briefly meet and have a photo taken with them after the gig and to exchange a few words thanking them. I knew they were all short, but being close to them in person really brought home just how petite they all are, and all very beautiful. The photos and video we see of them do not do them justice. I will be seeing them on stage again on Monday, 1st July, for the penultimate gig of the tour, in London again, at what I hope will be a better venue. They have been playing at a variety of venues and festivals in Europe and have been very well received. These ladies are world class musicians and so very modest and down to earth, there seems to be none of the ego and conflict that destroyed so many good bands in the past. One of the best rock/metal bands I have had the pleasure to see perform during my 74 years. Miyako is the pianist in this video, she is classically trained from 3 years of age. It would be accurate to regard her as a pianist who also plays guitar (and other instruments) For a similar performance look for 'Lost In The Garden' with Miyako playing an introduction of Franz Liszt's Le Campanella. Welcome back to Lovebites ! Miyako is a generational talent who is a virtuoso on BOTH the guitar and piano. She has been classically-trained on the piano since the age of 3. Miyako also composed & arranged "Swan Song" and this track is a neoclassical metal masterpiece. Throughout the song, you can hear motifs from Romantic-era composers Chopin (intro, main riff, solo) and Dvořák (Chorus). Miyako's piano intro is Chopin's "Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor", aka the "Revolutionary Étude". They are currently touring Europe to mostly sold-out shows. Plenty of fan cams on YT. 'Etude Op.10, No.12' ( or 'Revolutionary Etude') by the Great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, which was written in 1831 and is dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland. 'Swan Song' ( lyrics - Asami / music - Miyako) from LOVEBITES third studio Album 'Electric Pentagram' (2020). For many centuries (starting from Ancient Greece) there is a legend, according to which Swans, non-singing, "silent" birds, acquire a voice a few moments before death, and this dying singing of Swans is amazingly beautiful. 'Etude' by F. Chopin and 'Swan Song' are dedicated to the warriors who died in battle. Therefore, at the concert, 'Etude' and 'Swan Song' are played together. In an interview given after the release of the 'Electric Pentagram' Album, singer Asami (a former ballerina, studied classical ballet for about 16 years before becoming a singer) said that when she wrote the lyrics of the song, she was thinking about the famous ballet P.I. Tchaikovsky 'Swan Lake'. During the performance of the song, Asami imitates the Swan (hand movements). And in the final part (piano Miyako), symbolizing the death of the Swan, Asami depicts the dying Swan on stage. Since the camera at the end of the song is focused on Miyako playing the piano, Asami's "death of the Swan" was not captured in the shot. Asami added some Scandinavian mythology (Valhalla) to the lyrics. The attitudes towards death among the Japanese Samurais and the Scandinavian Vikings were very similar. For Samurais and Vikings, death in combat with weapons in their hands is a death worthy of a warrior. Death in battle is better than death from old age in your bed. All Vikings dreamed of dying in battle because then they could go to Valhalla (Hall of warriors killed in battles) where they would meet God Odin and other Vikings who fought bravely and died in arms

You already have bits of this background in other comments, so forgive any overlap. Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the great classical composers, specializing in highly technical works for piano. "Etude" is French for "study". Chopin's Etudes were written as "studies", or lessons, for his students. They ended up being popular things for professional pianists to play as part of their concerts, in part to show off their skills. This is one of the more famous ones and is considered one of the most difficult ones. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák and Chopin, as well as her stated favorite, Russian romantic composer Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). For this performance, she actually played the Etude as the intro, but it’s not normally included in their shows.

I can really appreciate the talent in this video, it's probably not my type of music but I watched it to the end and I enjoyed it.

This song is a masterpiece.

Miyako was trained as a classical musician, so she was taught that the instrument is the most important thing for people to hear and the musician is merely the thing that delivers the music. Her savant brain comes up with these epic masterpieces but it is the insane talent that her band-mates have that are able to play those pieces especially LIVE. Asami writes most of the lyrics for the band's songs and here blends several different stories into this one song. Next is acoustic guitar to shred fest with Midori and Miyako on piano and Asami and her ballet dance, Frozen Serenade LIVE. There is no other band performing LIVE like these musicians. While petite women who wear their femininity proudly nonetheless, they turn into metal goddesses on stage when they perform. BTW, Miyako took six (6) metal songs and made them into classical piano pieces on her recent LP, check it out if you want to see just how great she is on piano!!!!

As you said, japan is a hotbed of great bands at the moment, whether it's rock or metal, but #lovebites are, imo, the best of the best, they are on another level and excel in every department from musicianship and vocals to song writing and stage presence. Lots of talent here, to state the obvious .. What a powerhouse display from such beautiful and feminine looking women .. As they say, you can't judge a book by the cover😉.. But I must be a bit slow or unobservant .. For a while, I thought they were singing in Japanese, until I picked out a few English words, looked up the lyrics, and realised it was all in English 😲

Miyako started playing piano at age 3 and she stated she is a pianist first. Besides the piano and guitar Miyako plays bass and can play drums. Try A FROZEN SERENADE, live. LOVEBITES are coming to the U.S. for the first time, with a brief tour in small venues. They’re already sold out most venues. The LA stop was recently moved to a larger venue with double the capacity of the original club, indicating strong interest in the band.
