Yes we were here to hear Angelina sing. And yes. You know a lot more about song composition than the average fan/listener. That must make it difficult for you to enjoy a lot of music while you sit back and pick the sh$t out of simple chord progressions. What I found amazing in the video was the stage presence of a 10 year old girl. Never missed a beat. Full orchestra. Fans singing along. And she’s just a freakin pro like she’s been doing this kind of gig for 20 years.

I wasn’t that crazy about these songs at first either, but the more I watched them, the more I enjoyed them. Try watching them a couple more times and see if they grow on you. Simplicity can be compelling. I think what I enjoyed the most was the arrangement of the music. BTW, Alan always wears a mask, this was when Angelina was 10, so it would have been 2016.

Alan Walker is a Norwegian DJ from Belsen. This is his 'homecoming' concert and it features Angelina for a couple of songs. This is one of my favourite Angelina clips. Walker always wears the mask - even before the pandemic. It's important for fans to realize this was not an Angelina concert. She was a featured singer, at his request, but the show is his and the crowd was there to see him. I'm not crazy about the bfirst song, but 'Faded' is a classic. and was a big hit in Europe, as you can tell by the audience singing along. And you're right, you are being kind of a jerk but you're not wrong.. I may be ignorant but I have no idea what the '3-6-7' or whatever it was you kept repeating means. 😎

Thanks for reacting to this enjoyable performance of the Barefoot Angel. I enjoy Angelina’s performances regardless of what genre of music she sings because I am not trapped in the Jazz era of music for ever. Angelina is the girl with 1,000 voices.

Thanks Matt - as others have said AW is a big deal in certain circles and I do like the "biggness" of the orchestra sound and arrangement here - and Angelina as a 10 year-old owns that stage! Her feel for the rhythmic push on these songs is incredible.

To be honest if not for Angelina, I would have probably not bothered, but as usual she brings extra and improves everything. I believe she was unwell when doing this concert but soldiered on like the pro she is.

Matt, very many people love, and enjoy this peace of music, they feel that the arrangement is beautiful because the way it is put together is very appealing to a lot of people. None of them are the least bit interested in the breakdown of the chord structure, or whether it is simple or so-called sophisticated. Truthfully most of them could care less because they go by what the music sounds like to them, and how it makes them feel. But I do agree with you 100%, you are a snob.

Even on these songs here, especially on the second "Faded", Angelina's ability to communicate longing and nearly despair is without peer. It appears that, no matter what, you can't really guess what she is going to do, either with the music or sometimes just through the music.

While I'm sure many do enjoy the hypnotic repetitive droning of Alan Walker's music it can be really challenging for a jazz connoisseur to sit through an endless recycling of the same line over and over and over and over again. At least, in this performance, it is wrapped in orchestration and colored beautifully with Angelina's voice.

Nice reaction Matt! I too was not sure who Alan Walker was when I first watched this video. I found this interesting because he re-arranged these 2 songs that were originally EDM songs and used an orchestra to play the music, and that he wanted Angelina to perform these songs...a 10 year old girl! I'm sure this was a big thrill for her, but I have to admit, she could sing these songs in her sleep and it would still sound really good. Not really a big challenge for her and her voice, but hey, I still liked it. I love her so much! Angelina is all about positivity and love, so lets follow this example. I like to think of myself as one of her Angels. I ask the other Angels out there to please make sure to click the Like/Thumbs Up on her videos to show we far outnumber the negativity and hate that's out there. Also, if someone has an opinion about Angelina you don't like, respect their opinion, kindly disagree, and wish them well. Best wishes to everyone!

What you need to do is 'chill out' a bit and listen to Angelina's version of an Ella Fitzgerald song you mentioned really liking. First off, I want to preface what I'm saying with the fact that Ella was recently voted the #1 jazz singer of all time, followed by Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Billie Holiday. Keeping that in mind, listen to a casual outdoor rooftop presentation where Angelina is 10 and is singing Ella's iconic 'Every Time We Say Goodbye', with only a guitarist keeping time in the background. Angelina shows her genius, knowing that improvement on Ella' could only be by a simple tweaking, at most, and that is by just slowing it down a bit. I'm a big fan of Ella and don't disagree with her #1 ranking, but after listening to Angelina's presentation I found myself 'moved' more by her rendition. I've heard the saying that at times, 'less can actually be more', and it makes sense after listening to this simplistic version of one of the most beloved songs of all time by Angelina.

I loved this! I'd love to hear more from Alan Walker. As for Angelina, l loved the parts you hated Matt. That was when l felt like "yeah let's go", sometimes l think music is deliberately downplayed to allow the vocalist to carry the emotion of the song and for me, Angelina accomplished that here. But she is the barefoot princess. Not all vocalists can do that but it's magic when they do. BTW l love it when you give honest critiques, even if l don't agree with them. 🙂

I like reactors to be honest, but I think you should refrain from mocking and ridiculing the music. AW has millions of fans and his music is not bad because you don't like it. We still agree on one thing. Angelina delivers ... as always. I think AW is exciting and innovative, and especially 'Faded' has inherent power and mystery. A small masterpiece in all its simplicity!

And people always feel the need to make excuses for breaks in Angelina’s voice. She had a cold I think. She didn’t feel well. That’s crap for the most part. What she needed here was a better sound guy. She was doing her best to sing over a full orchestra. And having natural breaks in your voice is not necessarily a bad thing. In real singing it happens. It adds realness and emotions to a song. Check out Adele’s latest song Easy on me. The great Adele left imperfect vocals with breaks in a studio recoding. She didn’t have a cold.

Alan Walker is an EDM guy, and this is his music put acoustic instruments. His music is like a wall of electronic noise, I think the tunes are simple, but the complexity is in the rest of it. 10 year old Angelina wasn’t on her game that evening, as she was ill, but wanted to go on.

3,177,484,981 views as the best on RU-vid, so there are some who like the so-called simple chords! Adele, for example, has the best record of 2,909,895,808 views, and Ariana Grande has the best record of 1,955,517,006 views. I like jazz, but there are other artists who choose a different genre. I understand that it is not time to do research on everyone you make a reaction to. But then it might be a good idea to hold back some point of view for yourself. I was saying that this type of chord progression puts me to sleep if there aren’t other elements to the music to keep me interested. Matt, This could have been a really good reaction but you chose to piss off every AJ fans with your snooty comments and sticking out your tongue like a child. I'm writing this and the video is still playing. Music doesn't have to be complex to be enjoyable. Sometimes simple is good. Alan, who is extremely famous worldwide took his electronic music and put it to real musicians and I found this opening to be quite spectacular! I think you're just getting bored with Angelina. You should have focused more on what amazes most AJ fans and that is a 10 year old child fronting a large orchestra with a famous artist on piano with a large crowd. Too bad. Thumbs down on this one my friend. Maybe you need some rest

You came across as very sarcastic and belittling a great and very well respect artist like Alan Walker. Adding more keys or chords just for the sake of adding it doesn’t necessarily enhance the music. For your information Alan Walker has 40.7 million RU-vid subscribers. That is more than artists like Adele, Shakira, Rihanna, One Direction, Maroon 5, Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez, and many others. His song “Faded” that Angelina performed is one of the best selling song. The original performance by Iselin Solheim alone has more than 3.1 billion views. I respect your opinion but I also expect that you respect other artists. Sticking your tongue is not the way to do it. Thank you

Well, this is the problem with those people, who want to see their opinions confirmed. Generally a problem in music-reactions. If you tell them your honest thoughts, and that is, what reactions should be about, they are pissed off. And it is a tightrope act for the reactor to be not too critical, because he needs the views. I think you did it well. Alan Walker is not my favourite neither. The repetitive circles are boring and on one point Angelina´s voice broke. There was another performance of her, where her voice broke, and fans always seem to say: she catched a cold. And yeah, this is a live-performance. Things happen. So, why not say it like it is. That does not change our admirement for Angelina Jordan. nothing must be perfect. I thank you, Chris, for being honest. If that means, beeing a jerk, than be a jerk.

You should check the views faded has on youtube. I think you would be surprised. Perhaps one of the most popular pop-artist to ever come from Norway. (A. walker). BTW, Kygo is even worse if you ask me. And yes I agree, it is incredibly boring music. They should add some Coltrane changes here and there, that would spice things up!

take it or leave it doesn't make being a jerk O.K., Infact it makes it worse. Stepping on some one else's creativity however simple or complicated is an act of arrogant ignorance. Just because a person feels a certain way doesn't give them license to express or act on those feelings in any way they want. If it isn't said with respect it isn't worth saying . You could have related your experience with a lot more class. I'm gonna leave it.

Be snooty if you like, but these two songs have probably sold more copies than all classical music combined in history. People know. Your manner is at best painful. Alan keeps his music simple so he can pick up different lead singers wherever he goes, and he does all the accompaniment himself. BTW Alan has always used the mask for anonymity, nothing to do with COVID. Congrats. You've achieved what I thought was impossible, made this vid distasteful to listen to. Unsubbing, and get stuffed, mouthy.
