Hi guys! It was a wonderful first trip, we are so pleased with the Nugget pop-top. If there was no such thing as a ‘Nugget Plus’ we would be keeping hold of this one for a long time to come, but it has assured us that we are making the right move for our family, whenever it happens. I like the word ‘epic’ and you’re right, especially about the sites…but we are choosey! Congratulations on your new VW camper, we eagerly await the mods and look forward to your new ‘Beach’ videos 👍🏻😎 Best wishes, J,J,H,I&P.
Great video of your maiden voyage. The Nugget is working well for ye, especially the three girls on the one bench seat. Also, I really like the kitchen lay-out. Happy travels and enjoy every minute. :)
Thanks Pat, we are loving it! And, for the reasons you say; the kitchen is fabulous and the kids can sit for hours in comfort together on the rear 3 seats…the whole concept works so well for us! 👍🏻☺️
Also meant to say that at 50 euros a night I know a site can seem expensive, however if it’s got good facilities I think it’s worth it. Like you we have three children (all boys though), to go to a half decent hotel would cost so much more and we would either have to faff about with two rooms or a mega expensive suite!
That first campsite looked great with those fantastic views. Poppy is like a female version of my Edward (Christmas songs in summer and hitching rides on my shoulders 😄. Like the protector for the side of the van for the awning winder. I keep having to take the winder out 3 or for times each time I wind it in or out so I don't have to rest it on the van. Don't think me or Nicole would be happy with a compact pillow (sleep comfort is everything). Oh and some wine when the children are asleep 😴 👍
Hellooo! Sounds like Poppy and Edward have a lot in common, bless ‘em! Protector worth it’s weight, that’s for sure. And, I agree with you…the mini pillows only lasted until the end of this trip, we popped into Milan Ikea on the way home and sorted our bedding out! Wine always a hit…thanks for watching and good luck with your camper adventures 👍🏻😎
Just purchase a Vw T6.1 conversion, we have 2 kids 4 and 2, you videos have truly inspired us. We did plan on getting a VW ocean California, but the uncertainty on delivery dates made us rethink and renting a conversion. Love the videos 😀
Hi Sion, thanks for the message, and congrats on buying a T6.1 conversion. The 6.1 is gorgeous, great decision 👏🏻. And, we are humbled you found our videos inspiring. Thanks for watching and I hope you’ll continue following us… 👍🏻😁
Can’t go anywhere withiut a supply of Yorkshire Tea! We even smuggled a huge sack of tea bags from the UK last week…should keep us going until winter 😁. Oh, and the Nugget…the layout works so well for us and it does feel noticeably larger inside than our Cali was…which is appreciated with 5 of us 😆👍🏻
They are pricely! Especially when last week on our way to Italy from the UK, we spent €7 in two nights!!! (Park4night beauties!). Cheers guys, hope you're well and have more adventures planned! Best wishes from us all
Really nice camper, great layout, VW could learn a few things. Love watching your channel, you make campervanning look so nice… I want one. Looking back at a previous video you were very interested in the big brother Nugget plus, are you still thinking of buying one when they are available? Roll on part 2.
The layout is fab and works very well for us! Yes, we still have our Nugget Plus on order and will sell the pop-top when the time comes. The Ford Transit production line was/is halted, hence a big delay on all new Nuggets. Hopefully sometime before next season we should take delivery. We absolutely love the Nugget, so the ‘Plus’ should suit us even more 😃…thanks for commenting 👍🏻
That campsite looked beautiful, we got a tow bar step for the back of our camper, they don't stick out much more than the tow bar and are wide enough to fit your whole foot so makes it so much easier getting in and out, we love ours 😊
Ciao Andrea! Your places are beautiful! I guess it is strange watching us there when you know it so well…we wonder about winter use too….it has a good parking heater thankfully. However, we are changing to a fixed high top Nugget (Plus) and one of the reasons we are doing this is for all season use. Buona giornata e grazie per la visione! 👍🏻😎
👍🏻…the Nugget is awesome and we are all settling in well! See what you think to Part 2 next weekend as we visit an ancient village called San Fruttuoso…one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been to…thanks for watching 😃
Great to see you all out & about again. A tad jealous of your sunny weather though. Only the last couple of days have we seen some sun in Cornwall. Just in time for back to school 😬😁. Looking forward to part 2. Xx
Hi Emma, we were in Cornwall a few days ago! Bude area. It was ‘jumpers on!’…we have just driven our Nugget the 1650km in three days to Italy. Part 2 of Liguria coming very soon, and look out for some Cornwall action in a few video’s time. Thanks for watching!
@@CaliCamperFamily That’s a mammoth journey!! so lucky to live here but we just don’t get the weather!! We are mid Cornwall on the south coast but love Bude area. Look forward to seeing Cornwall & you guys on your next blogs. 😀
It’s an ok site if you use it as a base for the coast…we used the bus to get into town. See part two coming soon for more of this campsite…what did you think to it? Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻😀
This is the first time I’ve watched one of your videos and I really enjoyed it. We have a Transit camper van but ours is the long wheelbase version and it’s a WildAx Triton which is a very different layout to your Nugget. I’ve seen the Nugget online before but it’s good to get a good look around it. Looking forward to watching your other videos.
Hi Barry, I just googled the WildAx Triton and it looks great. I like the lounge style layout, but I presume the sideways facing seat doesn’t covert into a forward facing/belted travel seat? Would have been a contender for us if it did. I like the rear fixed toilet too. We have the Nugget Plus on order and the delivery is currently delayed, some of our earlier videos show what we’ve been up to with our campers, yiu kight find those interesting.…thanks for finding us, glad you enjoyed watching too. All the best, J.
@@CaliCamperFamily You’re right that the sideways bed in ours has no belted seats so it wouldn’t work for you with 3 small children. Ours offers only the 4 belted seats and because of the 2nd sofa only the passenger seat swivels. I’ve recently made some changes to mine to upgrade the solar and add a removable shelf/worktop/draining board because we have hardly any work surface area in it without putting the tables up. It’s much better now but I do like the look of your kitchen. Happy travels!
Thanks Barry, sounds like you’ve made some useful changes…I need to sort the Solar out on the new one when it arrives, a future project! Yes the rear kitchen on the Nugget works well and is bigger than most kitchens in full size motorhome’s. Also, I am looking forward to having the LWB mainly for the extra elbow room in the back. I am very happy with the new Transit as a base vehicle, as I’m sure you are - it drives so well 👍🏻😎
Hi guys! They are from Decathlon (also, similar on Amazon I think). Brilliant actually, as they fold down to a shoebag size and perfect to place in a cupboard. They can seat up to 110kgs and weigh next to nothing…it also gives the girls something useful to do! You’ll see them at work more in Part 2 of the Ligurian Coast videos, hopefully by the end of week. Thanks for watching!
Hey 👋We have a T5 Cali (pretty much identical to your old one other than colour). Was just wondering, can you squeeze your duvet or sleeping bag under the closed roof of the Nugget? It would be great to have one bed that was already made when you get to pitching up! I know it's a big no-no in the Cali!
Hi Paul, ahhh, our T5 was a fabulous thing! As regards the top bed, it’s pretty much the same rules as the Cali. The pop top might squeeze closed on a thin summer duvet but you run the risk of compressing/marking the lovely foam headlining with anything more, like cuddley toys/barbies etc! 😊However, what you can do, which is also like the Cali, is make the bed up and then push the ceiling up out of the way. We always keep the bed sheets on, obviously. The bedding does store easily under the sink area though. The high top version is a different story, and we hope to take delivery before next season, lets see! Thanks for commenting 😀
@@CaliCamperFamily Thanks! Really interested to see how you get on. We have been toying with the idea of getting something bigger, but are trying to solve the things we don't like about the T5 first to see if it can stay 😀
Come to Wales 🏴😉! We’ll give you tips on where to visit, and maybe one day when we can travel to Italy, you can give us yours😂. Swapping Nugget life!
I would love to see you all in the south of France. Great video and your children will grow up with such happy memories. Can you tell me what make your privacy/sun canopy is. Thanks
Bathroom not included! A portable toilet in a cupboard and a sink for washing….shower is an attachment for outside! All part of the adventure! Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hi Derek, the lower bed is ok, not as comfortable as the top bed. We use a thinish mattress topper and roll that out over the lower bed and then put a sheet over that. It’s pretty good then. Thanks for watching and commenting 😀
@@CaliCamperFamily thanks it’s a blessing to watch you and the children we have 3 but much older now, we’re looking at the nugget for the two of us to travel in, hopefully 😉👍🏻
Mind blowing, how you can do this with 5 persons in that tiny camper. I guess there will be a need for a bigger thing, once the girls are a bit older? But i see that the camping holidays wouldnt be a thing for me anyways. I really would feel very uncomfortable to live so close to the other people on the camping spots.
Yes, we are not keen on being so close to other vans either, but this is very typical of the area. We have the Nugget ‘plus’ on order and that should be good for the next few years. I guess we will get a bigger van as time goes on, but we love the size for touring/exploring…thanks for commenting 👍🏻
Hi Charlie, I just bought the rear magnetic fly screen from a DIY store and cut it to length. It came with velcros to install it. The side windows were made from the off cuts, and then cut very carefully to fit and look the part. 😁
