W58 holds up fine to the 1UZ. I have a 1uz/w58 toyota pickup. I've put 60,000 hard miles on the swap and the w58 has held up great. I have a 3uz/w58 supra and have put 15,000 miles on the swap with no transmission issues. The white supra in this vid has had no issues with the w58 trans after 20,000 miles. I built a 1uz/58 cressida that have 30,000 miles on the swap with no transmission issues. The R154 is not necessary at all.
yotarip Thanks because In swapping a 7mgte into a non turbo mk3 again only this time I don't have an R154 and I was a little worried because I do some bolt on' s. Should be between 250hp-300hp crank
You should be fine if you run a clutch with a sprung disc and don't do 5000 rpm clutch dumps with drag radials. It's torque that kills transmissions more than hp. If you are putting down more than 325-350 torque, drive carefully.
It's just a full 2.5" exhaust from the exhaust manifolds to a single out y-pipe right after the transmission. Then 2.5" pipe from the y-pipe to a cheap stainless free flow muffler. No cat. Sounds much deeper in person.
+Cheezburger861 yeah. I love the 1uz. Torque on tap. Notice that he didn't have to do a high rpm clutch dump to start the burn out. Just under 2000 rpm to initiate it. The 300hp 1uz vvti prices have really dropped too.
+yotarip I've been debating VVTi or non-vvti, since I'm keeping the stock auto (to keep things affordable and reliable) and not wanting to get too into mods until after I'm out of school. That extra 30 horsepower and 5 or so mpg is really enticing
