Hey, Sirkana. Good question. The Scorpion is very consistent when it comes to applying acid. There are a few different reasons I went that direction: (1) Scorpions with range + acid synergized very well with my Mustangs; it made chaff clearing much easier; (2) it also synergized very well with my Marksman, allowing me to one-shot pretty much everything on his board due to the extra 250% damage the units take when in acid; and (3) the Scorpions themselves, along with my Marksman, would annihilate his Vulcans (which I knew were coming).
When it comes to raw damage, wouldnt scorpion with range + double shot be better than range + acid? At least in this game the impact the acid had on chaff clear is very minimal. I have seen you go acid a lot ^^ so i guess its just one of your favorite techs, but IMO acid works by far best vs very tanky, big units, and the enemy hadnt much of them on the board. Otherwise i rarely see acid work in other situations in my own games and my enemy's games. I am very curious how range on mustangs instead of acid would have done in this game ^^ Mby you can try some rounds via the tool and see whats better (i think double shot doesnt do much here either, since you dont have a dmg problem or an unkillable enemey units problems
@@bernhardmuster2776double shot over kills most stuff and targets the same thing with both shots, whereas acid does the same one shot and leaves a dot pool
One thing that could have REALLY helped with your chaff clear was upgrading your Mustangs, at least to level 2. It's a 100% increase at that level, and they would have cleared his crawlers much much faster.
That's not a bad idea. I was thinking about doing that, but I ultimately decided against it because I was using them as chaff and the thought of chaff + missile interceptor being leveled was a little outweighed by putting the supplies elsewhere. Looking back though, I wonder if that would have been the better call.
I appreciate the comment, Bellz. I'm going to have to disagree with you a little bit though, respectfully of course. The Mustangs' role was multifaceted; I had them for missile intercepting, to be chaff, and to help with chaff clear. I think they did it well. I had a lot of Mustangs and he didn't have many missiles, so the time spent on shooting them down wasn't that significant. To me, they still fulfilled their other purposes.
I think that even without missile interceptor, mustangs seem to be mediocre at chaff clear without high levels or relevant upgrades. Against crawlers especially it seems like an even trade at best. I think you got lucky that he didn’t build more storms
Been super fun watching your games! Like that you take the time to explain what you are doing and why. What is your reasoning behind buying more units VS leveling up the ones you have? Saw that on this vid you barely leveled at all.
Thanks for the comment, Ryan. I'm glad you've been enjoying the games. You bring up an interesting question. The win condition that I had was to clear his chaff and use my Marksman as my carry units (along with Scorpions, but moreso for their acid). He didn't have any large units--mostly medium-sized ones, so I wasn't worried too much about upgrading my Scorpions. If he had a larger unit that would have required the extra damage, I might have went that direction. Unless I'm countering something specific, I typically don't level chaff. In this particular game, I was using Mustangs more in a support role than DPS. I wanted them to help with chaff clear, help with anti-missile, and be chaff themselves. That's why I didn't level the Mustangs. My main concern was leveling up my Marksman. I went back and watched some of the rounds. My whole board needed upgrades lol. It's funny cause I didn't even notice in the moment. 🤣
Tbf from watching a few of your videos in a row, it seems like you always massively lean into chaff for like rounds 1-3. Given levels don't matter on chaff, throwing down some arcs to get levelling would help chaff clear so much in the mid rounds maybe?
