I have to add, that in 1992, during our winter training in Augusta Georgia, Jamie and I took out a double scull for a few meters, the power I felt when we took some hard strokes was beautiful. If I were to row for the 2012 Olympics I would want to do it in the double.
Bit of trivia... Jamie and I were recruited for the Brown University Crew. He sat 5 and I 4. It was great having him sit in front of me. Felt a sense of security rowing 4 seat and watching Jamie's back come at me when we raced other teams. It was hard for me to be "friendly" after '97, when I got back in the single scull. I believe that between Jamie and me there had always been healthy dose of competition before friendship. He might feel differently. Now it is all water under the bridge
I just realized Ali Ibrahim had passed away. Probably one of the highest achieving Arab Rowers. My respects and condolences go to his family. I hope more Arab Athletes would follow his footsteps and dedication to this sport.
R.I.P. Ibrahim Ali! You were a very nice and strong rower. Saw you on Bled in 2000, will never forget how your coach always shouted from the coast :"Line Ali, line!!" :)
