Max I really enjoyed the way you tackled this one. With your Video on the Micra K11 I was able to replace the Clutch on my car .That video was SO helpfull I thank you for giving me the confidence to do it. I have just ordered a Cordless impact wrench basic model chinese knock off for future projects. Can you tell me if the one you have is an adjustable torque type? I ask because I don't think the one I ordered is.I've never used one before and I am a little worried if the torque, rated at 420 NM is going to be safe to use on suspension bolts etc without snapping any bolts? Also would it be OK to tighten the bolts when they go back in with the Impact. Can the torque be varied on the cheaper versions by feathering the trigger ?I would welcome your advice before I undertake any more "ambitious" projects .Best Wishes always look forward to your uploads.M
Hi Mark good to hear from you Impacts are best used for loosening, I tend to use mine for tightening a little but I always leave them sort of loose and tighten them up by hand and torque them down properly with a torque wrench!
"Punch it out from the rear". I cannot get the longer drive shaft to budge. I've undone the 13mm bolt to open the clamp and I've tried putting a bar in where i took the first shaft out. I hit it, i even put my bottle jack between the bar and the back of the hub. Just pushed the engine and gearbox over on the mountings. What am i missing?
Turns out the answer was a pry bar beside the bracket with the 13mm bolt. No amount of hammering would have got it because there isn't a clear path through from the other side. Now both shafts are out, I can see something solid passing through the centre. What's got me now is the big wiring harness that covers the top bell housing bolts and I can't see how it's fixed on. One 10mm bolt on the left but can't see anything else!
I’m struggling here, there doesn’t appear to be enough room between the gearbox and the subframe. How do I achieve enough clearance ? The gearbox is hanging on just the one engine mount and all ready to drop barring the bell housing bolts. Any help appreciated..
Ok, I’ll try, not sure how I’ll get it back in though 😂 I’m removing it to do the RMS. Thanks for the video though, it’s certainly helped me get this far.
I just had a bad leak from the rear main seal and since it only takes half a day to do the entire thing I didn’t fit a new gearbox or clutch - but clutch and flywheel wouldn’t be a bad idea
The rear end of the gearbox will hit the subframe, you need to moge yhe engine forward to get it to clear and the differential needs to go in the upwards position… sadly i didnt film refitting but i need to do the clutch soon so there will be a video eventually…
