At last year's fall PCA Schnellfest event, I ran a 2:43.5. This year I added the Nine Lives Racing medium downforce kit, and Supermiata Xida suspension, so I was hoping for improvement on my lap time, which thankfully I got. I knocked off 2 seconds with a personal best of 2:41.67.
I knew the aero would help in the corners , but was curious on what it would do to my straightline speed. After looking at the data, to my surprise I actually gained 2 mph on the back straight with the same minimum speed at turn 11 compared to the non aero setup. I wasn't expecting it but after thinking about it, it made sense.
the stock Miata bumper is pretty draggy, so the air dam, which is helping to smooth that out, plus running the wing at neutral angle actually led to that increase.
